Great views, nice layout, terrific deal
Just the name alone makes you want to play it, and it it were in a little better condition, I certainly would have given it four stars instead of three. With that said, the greens run true and the lies in the fairways are fairly plush (some of the ponds could use some work and there are some bare spots). Still, this is a wonderful Keith Foster design on a great piece of property. Best of all, on a clear day, there are some pretty good views of Mt. Rainier, and not too many golf courses can claim that. Play the right tees and it's a really enjoyable experience with just the right amount of challenge.
Hope you like sand
Tough course with lots of sand and water. If you can hit it straight you will definitely enjoy this course. Price was reasonable. Good pace of play. My only suggestion would be a few water coolers at the tee boxes. I also would not suggest walking this course especially if it is a hot day. Couple of long steep walks between holes.
slow all around
They didn't have carts ready when we check in. It was a 5.5yr round for 18 holes. The beverage cart didn't come around much, and was always low or out of everything. For the money, there are better courses.
Challenging course in good shape
Found this course to be challenging with a slope of 137 from the blue tees. Fairways are generous enough but we'll placed fairway bunkers. Shots hit into it a lot of the greens require a higher type shot to carry water or bunkers. Fairways in great shape greens roll good but could be a little quicker. Wouldn't recommend for a player over a 20 handicap.clubhouse help a little young and thought the overall management of the course should be tightened. Love the tap room and menu! Over all a good experience
Great course
Beautiful course in good shape. Plenty of good water in play, so bring lots of balls.Long distance between many hole, which is beautiful but makes for a long course to walk. Reasonably priced after 3pm twilight. Marshall and team were great, but the beverage girls could be a bit happier to be there. Overall great experience and looking forward to round two
Plenty of water
This course has beautiful views and lots of water. Bring plenty of balls.
A day well spent
Course is in pretty good shape. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. A small thing... no cart lady on the course (the course was full and there was no time to purchase drinks at the turn), no water and not even a water fountain in the clubhouse.
Expensive, but nice
I thought the course was well maintained. Truly appreciated the sand on both sides of the carts, wished more people would have used them for divots.
At one point a marshal came and parked in front of the green and just stood there (10 min) no reason given for the delay.
Glad I didn't pay full price
The best part of the course is the greens. Very true. The course layout is ok. I left thinking they putt all there money I to the clubhouse and the maintenance of the course is a low priority. The course was really wet and there hasn't been that much rain.
Skong1946
I like the design, but the condition is not up to my expectation, the course rate is too high compare to the condition
beautiful
I moved to Central OR a several years ago, so it has been some time since I played this track...forgot just how beautiful it is...great round...must play
Slllooooooooow
Played this course for the second time and it reassured why it's only been two times....the longest round I've ever played. There were a surprising number of beginners in every group receiving instructions on every single shot from their fellow group members, without any regard for the group (and sometimes groups) waiting on the tee box. We saw them go in the clubhouse after nine so we raced to get ahead of them only to find the same thing was happening in the new group ahead of us.
I know that people need to start somewhere, but don't assume anyone else wants a 6+ hour round.
The other thing that brought down the whole experience was a lack of courtesy regarding noise. A number of very noisy groups ahead and behind us made for a lot of noisy backswings.
The course was as beautiful as ever on a 75 degree clear day. I know full well that I shouldn't expect a speedy round on a Sunday but this was a little ridiculous, and reaffirmed my skepticism I had after my first round here. Probably won't play it again.
Better than expected!
Heard a lot of negative reviews, but this was my fav years ago. Today, weather was perfect, 70 deg/sunny, slight wind at times. First, i know Druids suffered some diseased greens, but looks like all the greens are very good, but hard. I prefer softer, so these felt almost like turf and spin doesn't work here. Fairways are too dry and hard vs other courses, but good condition. A shallow divot is needed here. Overall, a very pleasant round, but I didn't pay full fees, which I think are a little too $$. I don't think there was any thing wrong with the course other than the par 3's are beasts to deal with from the blue tees. I highly recommend for stronger players only and if fees were under $30.
simply awesome
this course is in great shape right now. it can be a little soft in the winter, excellent scenery, mt rainer is stunning. many deer were sighted on the course, go if you can
Playing the Swamp
This course is in horrible condition. It is like playing on marshland. Not a dry spot on the course and there hasn't been that much rain. Never again
Horrible Course Conditions
This course is HORRIBLE this year. Whoever is maintaining this course screwed up and there is water throughout the entire course. I have played other courses this year and this was the only one that had so much. If the price was discounted to $15 pp with cart, then it would be acceptable, but at over $100 total, you can do much better. Save your money and go somewhere else. Come back next year when they have fixed the issues.
Swimming
Horrible horrible. Planning to play is course for a while but the condition was horrible wet wet wet wet.
Great layout, subpar conditions.
Coming from the perspective of someone who maintains a golf course for a living i came into my round at Druids Glen with fairly low expectations. I have been previously on a personal boycott against Oki courses due to what i percieve to be an attitutude of bare minimum maintenance standards in order to achieve maximum profits to their cornering of the puget sound area non municipal upscale golf market. Unfortunately my fears were confirmed. For the record Druids Glen is an amazingly creative, fun and challenging layout for any golfer which is probably why it is so popular. However I found substandard greens, slow play, diseased tee boxes, a bunker which featured unplayable conditions, and us open style rough ruining what should have been an enjoyable round. Great layout, bare miniumum maintenance standards thats the Oki way i guess.
Great track, wait for summer!
Played in a rain storm, but still enjoyed the track. Course holds the water, so conditions were sloppy. Greens needed mowing and rolling, but appeared to have been punched in the last 2-3 weeks, so understandably a little shaggy and bumpy.
I agree that the conditions at Druids are horrible, and I'll never go back there, but Druids Glen is not an Oki property for the record.
