Greens
The greens are still very rough even two weeks after being air raided. The sand traps are just hard packed dirt with no sand.
Awesome course
This is one of the better golf courses in the area maintained well fairways well greens really good staff really friendly. Course Marshall should assist to help in the pace a little better
Good course for the money
Course was in good shape for the amount of heat they’ve been getting. Tough course although the fairways were pretty wide, you’re punished hard if you miss it.
Much different course than the formally top 10 course in TX
Very disappointed at the conditions of the course. I played here between 2013 - 2019 ant this was on of my favorites. Friends warned me not to play here but I had to see it for myself.
Pour hospitality - they tried to tell me my golf now booking could not be honored
Rough was burnt and is now desert…have not watered
Driving range is a big desert
Gas carts are very slow
Greens slow and patchy
No water on the course the marshal has a water jug on the back of his cart, we saw him once doing our round doing a temperature of 98+
I have some great memories on the course and the facility, really hated to se the place in the current extremely poor conditions. Great layout I hope it comes back to what it use to be are close to it.
Definitely not a 4 star as GOLF now shows it
Better each day
I know there’s been a lot of hemming and hawing about the course being lost due to El Paso weather and little water for the course, but in the last 6 months, the change in the overall conditions of Butterfield has been precipitous (pun intended). The staff there have done an incredible job to get the course in a beautiful condition and I can only hope to see further improvements in the future. Come play Butterfield, I promise you won’t regret it and you’ll have a TON of fun, even when the pace of play slows down to 20 minutes a hole.
Watch out for the “Sunday Tournament”
The course was amazing and the staff were very helpful! Free range balls were provided, bag drop was quick and easy, course marshal had cold water on his cart and most importantly the bent grass was in great condition, especially the greens. BUT BEWARE OF THE “Sunday Tournament” its a group of older men who play there every Sunday for a skins game, but they are aggressive, lack proper etiquette, and significantly slow down pace of play. I had no issues on the front 9 but the back 9 took me over 3 hours to play due to their not letting me play through. Other than issue it’s a great course and a must play for El Paso.
butterfield golf review
found a very good tee time rate @11:00 A.M. for 38 bucks cheapest tee time around here is 44 bucks at Ft Bliss which is in really bad shape.
Course in very good condition and everything was great except pace . There were a number of yahoo's who had no sense of golf etiquette in front of us so we couldn't jump them. What should have been a 3 1/2 hour round turned into a 5 hour torture.
Double booked
Course was fantastic. The greens ran smiitu and lots of green grass throughout. The trouble was that the course was double booked and we started almost 30 minutes late and took over 6.5 hours to play.
Will try again
Loved, the club house and amenities (pro shop, practice range and chipping area). Pace of play was extremely slow. 4 hours to finish 13 holes. Called it a day and probably saved another 2 hours. Will try again.
Overall good experience
Overall good experience, our golf cart died around the 15th hole but luckily the lady up front was able to rescue us promptly with a replacement. The only issue was the tee time I booked online was for 8:30 and the facility reflected 8:20. The gentleman at hole 1 directing tee times was a little more understanding than the one manning the front counter. Upon checking in I believe that the person with the first encounter with the customer should be a little more personable and understanding... that was not the case here. Either way, things happen and it won't prevent myself or my groups from attending in the future.
