Colorado National Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,676 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Lots of bunkers!
Challenging, though lots of holes are birdieable! You can score really well if your putting game is on!
Where are the trees?
I had fun at this course! No trees and no real trouble had me playing the same ball all day. Lack of trees leaves you and your ball exposed to very windy conditions. Greens were rough but was not expecting much this time of year.
Great track but early season conditions were rough
Colorado National is a great course but was in rough early season condition. The annoyance a carnival midway game called "The Circle of Hope Challenge" that was set up on one of the par 3's was unfortunate. I would urge Colorado National as well as other GCs to eliminate such contests from the course as they falsely promote themselves as charity events, but are actually for profit corporations usually acting as a marketing front for low end equipment or extraneous services. (Set these guy's up next to the driving range! Keep them off the course) That being said the course has some of the best finishing holes I have ever played. From the 630+ yard (depending on which box you choose) 15th, through beautifully sculpted 18th are in my opinion some of the finest golf holes in Colorado.
The course needs work
It would have been nice if someone told us that the greens had just been punched and sanded. They were un-putt-able and one of the greens was under repair and a make shift green in the fairway was being used. Since half the game is on the greens, they should have offered a discount at least.
It was almost 70 degrees and there was no water on the course and we only seen a beverage cart once (on the 16th hole. Very disappointing.
Great Course, Great Views
The course has a massive footprint and runs through some very nice neighborhoods, but still maintains a "wild" appearance. The views of Longs Peak and the front range are spectacular!
Greens under repair and poor shape
I play CO National quite often and normally enjoy. However, currently the greens are aerated (sp?) and all sand. If you enjoy nice greens, avoid this course for a month or so. One of the par 5's on front 9 doesn't even have a green. They put a hole on the fairway. I'd have appreciated it if they mentioned ANY of this in the clubhouse prior to the round which they did not. Still had fun but would have chosen a different track at the moment.
Course conditions excellent for early season
Greens were smooth.. true.. and consistent speed. Rest of the conditioning very good for mid-March. We had one issue that was frustrating, and it had to do with communication. I selected Colorado National for course quality, but also because there were no cart restrictions noted on GolfNow, as they were noted on most of the other courses that were "path only." We have two guys in our group for whom this doesn't work. Then, our check-in pro forgot to mention they were "path only." We eventually had to call the clubhouse and get someone out to disable the GPS so we could go on the fairways. Inconvenient and really poor communication. Once the issue was resolved, however, delightful round on a championship caliber course.
Great course
Love this course. Great views, varied terrain and some challenging holes.
Great facility..great views
Great track, course is challenging but with the right tree box manageable..long walk if your walking...
Good deal, pretty course
First time playing, had a 1:09 tee time, arrived around 12:30, got a large bucket and a few drinks/snacks (good prices!) before heading out to the first tee at 1:15, but were encouraged to start as soon as we were warmed up, which is always nice. Light course traffic, there was no one in front of us (we were a 2some) and we were more than willing to let the single scratch golfer behind us play through on the 4th hole. Course has some beautiful views, great challenging slopes and well placed bunkers... the tee boxes were still a bit firm, so until the weather warms up, it might be a bit tougher to get your tee in the ground. Greens seems well maintained, only a couple holes on the back 9 had enough goose droppings to bother me, but it was much more manageable than other courses near Boulder. Carts are nice (as a Buff I chose one of the CU ones) and the GPS/E. Scorecard was good to have, but we did make the mistake of not realizing that it was path only (we assumed it was only on designated holes) and the cutting off of the engine was very annoying and slowed down play for 5 mins while it inched back to the path. We were gone by 5, just as sun was going down, and took a 10 min break in between front/back, so it was about 3 hours 45 mins play time on a new course.
Beautiful Course
This is a beautiful course with amazing views. It is very well maintained. When I played in Summer 2012 is was very busy, with 3 groups lined up at the first tee. They shouldn't book tee times so close to each other as this leads to slow course play. I had a late afternoon tee time and couldn't finish all 18 holes because of the slow play. I would like to play again and next time would select an earlier tee time so I can see every hole.
Nice course. Rangers were ridiculous.
Nice course. Good deals. Unfortunately, the rangers are ridiculous. On us the entire time, even though nobody was there. Shame since the course is so nice.
One of the best courses in Colorado
A very nice course, had the best time. The course was in great condition for being played in December.
Very enjoyable experience
First time playing this course. Very windy conditions which added greatly to the challenge. Course was in good shape for December. Pace of play was a little slow. Would definitely play the course again and recommend it to friends.
Great course. Long. Course difficutly challenging and varies, the degree of difficulty is depending on tee off location
My husband and I love it. One of the better courses in the Denver Metro area. My husband tees from the blue or black tee positionings, which offers him the degree of challange he loves. Me, I tee off from the Silver, a shorter more moderate location and which allows us to keep an even pace. Pro Shop is a little pricey, come prepared.
CNGC is great value for the money.
CNGC has a great facility and a friendly staff. The course was in good shape and food at the turn was served promptly.
Visually superb
Man elevated tees. Greens are huge and in perfect conditions. The fairways are wide and forgiving.
course shaping up after vandalism
The course is great the staff and patrons not so much. Something about this place isn't right, always a bad vibe there. But I am there to play not make friends.
Beautiful course in great shape
Great place to play but pace of play was very slow.
Course needs some work.
Individual @ reception desk was not very cordial or welcoming. For an exclusive club personel were not concerned with customer service. Our tee time was delayed by at least 30 minutes so we were not able to complete our 18 holes due to darkness. Original tee time was 2:45 P.M. and we did not tee off until 3:20 P.M.
