Colorado National Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,579 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Disappointing
I was really excited to play this course. The overall experience was disappointing. First was their policy on taking the carts onto the fairways. 9 of the 18 holes were cart path only. Really? If I wanted to walk, I would have. It's the same grass on the holes where you could drive than the holes where you couldn't. Plus, talk about slowing down play. You could cut a good 30 minutes off the round if you just did cart path only on the Par 3's. Speaking of, 5 hours to play? Not good. Second... course condition. Many of the fairways were in less than satisfactory condition. Very rough and chunky... and hard as a rock. I know it is July and it's been dry, but it was like hitting off hard pan. How about some extra water??? No chance for divots on most holes. Back to the cart rules. Many of the holes, where you could drive on the fairway, you couldn't get within 100-150 yards from the green. Come on already. We're amateurs... this isn't the US Open. Last, loosen up on the gps cart restrictions. My cart shut down 4 times when I was within the rules of where the cart should be. I was 20 yeards in front of your arrows to the path, and my cart shut down. I understand having the restrictions, but enough is enough. You are not The Masters at Augusta. If you want "regular" people to come out and have a good time golfing, loosen up!
could be a good course but was less than impressive
very slow pace of play, over 5 hours and lots of waiting. Golf carts with gps/digital scorecard were ok but really more of a hassle than convenience if you went even slightly off course they would shut down and force you to reverse back which was pretty annoying. the fairways/greens were in poor condition with way too many divots and ball marks. If the course was in better condition and played faster it would be fun as it had long challenging holes but overall we had a poor experience, should be better for the money.
Wide open for the slice/fade hitters.
This is a great course for the average golfer. Wide open to allow for bad misses and the greens were fast which i really liked.
Unconscionable Pace of Play
We were scheduled to tee off at 4:12pm, but they were out of carts. We were forced to wait in line behind walk-up's without a tee time, who the starter allowed to play in front of us, even though we had a tee time. We hit our drives on the first tee at 4:37, and struggled to finish 13, as the sun fully set at about 8:50pm. There are no player's assistants on the course, and it is a major shame that a beautiful course, with excellent GPS equipped carts, has been rendered unplayable by a lack of any semblance of pace of play.
Always Consistent
Colorado National is always consistent. It's a great golf course with some incredible vistas...........but the pace of play always reminds me why I don't play there more often! There always seems to be people playing CO National who appear to be lost! They have golf clubs and carts but don't seem to know what to do or where to go. Super frustrating. Course screams for rangers who do there jobs and keep folks moving.
Greens are in great condition
For a discount rate of $49 it's worth it. The regular rate is I think $75 and not worth it. It's even more expensive on the weekends.
They got it set up diffucult
The couse is set up way hard with 1st cut rough 2 inches, 2nd cut rough is 4 feet tall weeds.
Must be a sharpshooter, with long distance to score well.
Challenging but Fair layout
Course is very challenging if you can't keep your drives in the fairway. Was well maintained when we played, though there were quite a few spots that needed some extra attention. Couple of the greens had some burn but were otherwise in good shape and rolled true. Pace was slow but it was on the weekend so it was fairly expected and the course marshall was moving groups as quickly as he could.
A little disappointing......
The course was in decent shape but some greens were not in good condition. The pace of play was not good and the Marshall's response of, "we'll it is a weekend and we are busy" was unacceptable to us. This course probably won't make our list for a replay this year.
Love the course and the greens were really fast and in the best shape ever.
I love this course! It is a long course so takes a bit longer to play than other courses, plus it's hard and i stink at golf. Staff is very friendly and they have a great patio for drinking after. The best course to play around denver for sure.
Great course!
Course was in great shape. Beautiful views. Play was a little slow but it was Father's Day weekend. We are novices and played off the Copper tees, it was plenty challenging! Keep that ball in the fairway, it is next to impossible to find in the tall grass.
Tee times too close together 12 minutes apart 5 .5 hour round
Ranger did not do a good job of attempting to speed up play. He basically gave in to the traffic jam.
Rude Staff
Hanna refused refund for the back 9 that we didnt get to play because the front nine took us over 3 hours because of them letting a family with 2 small kids play. They refused refund and they treat guests like trash. Poor excuse for a golf "club"
Challenging track on a great piece of land.
We teed off at 6:30 a.m.
The views were awesome & the conditions were great. There are a lot of elevation changes here and it gets you thinking strategy on every tee box. The Greens were fast but they rolled true. This golf course is a great value.
Always Nice!
I love CNGC. It is always in good to great shape. Fun and challenging holes but fair for all levels. Plays long from the tips! Play the right tees for your ability.
Great track
This is a great track. Greens are a bit firm, but that seems to be the case at a lot of courses this year. The main complaint that I have is that it took 5 hours to play. That tells me that they overbooked a bit or they do not do a good job keeping on slow groups and their pace of play.
Nice Course
I've played this course a few times and had a blast, but this last time, the pace of play was brutal. Due to the terrain, the is not a course I would recommend to walk, but nonetheless, there were walkers slowing everyone down. The staff needs to strategically place walkers so that they will not hinder others. Slow play kills your game!
Links Course North of Denver
Course was challenging - especially the 580 yard Par 5. There was ample opportunity to get into trouble in the rough on this course. Pace of play was a bit slow following 2 groups who were 30 minutes behind the pace of play.
