Length 7676 yards
Slope 144
Rating 75.5

The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,676 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Great Layout! Cool theme and fun course.

I play this a couple times each year. Love it! Course is always in good shape and I love bent grass. Great views and a great patio to drink your bogeys away after.

Greens condition

Greens a little sandy, probably because of the winter kill - but they are improving.

Needs work on greens and mowing

Greens had some problem areas, due to frost death, and seems pin positions were still Sunday difficulty. Rough was already long and thick. Need work on the mower skills, lots of poor mowing of the greens. Still patchy in parts of the fairway, and many holes did not allow cart access, and the course is very unfriendly for cart path golf. Only saw drink cart once for round. But cant beat the price, very good value for the money paid.

Great course but don't go early

We had the first tee time of the day at 6:00 am. Obviously this was an early time but the maintenance crew for the course was not finished with their job by the time we teed off. The course should not offer tee times that early if they can't be finished with the prep for the day. We were teeing off on the first 5 holes with mowers blazing and the greens were so shaggy that they made putting very difficult. In addition the GPS did not accurately measure the distance to the pin. Half the time the GPS would say the pin was up front when it was actually in the back. In addition there were flags left out of the hole by the maintenance crew. This obviously makes your approach a complete guess when the GPS is inaccurate. Other than these mishaps the course was generally in great shape. There was one green with some major grass work being done on it but overall the course is a great place to play. I would stay away from early tee times and watch out for the accuracy of the GPS.

The course has great views if the moutains

This is the third year I have played there and the greens just seem to be getting worse. A few hole are just short of terrible. If it were not for that I would play there more often.

good course

This is a course that potentially plays crazy long, in the 7600 yard range, with garbage grasses, deep ravines, backyards, thick rough and water for hazzards to help provide a contemporary long game test. It's also, considering the qauality of the golf experience, very reasonably priced. I'd recommend it.

Slow Play

Play on the front 9 was going at a decent pace until hole 9 and then it just seemed like we were crawling on the back 9 waiting for groups in front of us. Hopefully it was just the day, but when we mentioned it to staff on the way out, we were told that it happens pretty frequently there. Had to leave after only getting 16 holes in over the course of 4 hours and 45 minutes.

This is a great course that can be as challenging as you want with The turf has some early season problems that the maintenance people are working on.

This is a wonderful course that is a joy to play. Apparently the course had a rough winter as there were patches of dead turf mainly on the fairways that the maintenance people are working to correct. At this time a golfer wanting to play the course should look for a discounted rate so that they will feel that they get good value for the price.

Course in bad shape, requires maintenance

Course layout is challenging and interesting. Long par 3's, absurdly long par 5's, good par 4's. Greens and fairways conditions are as bad as it can get.

Pace of play was HORRIBLE!!!!

5 1/2 hour round. Course Marshall told us the 2nd group out for the day was 4 holes behind! The guy (Marshall) was very friendly to us but should have kicked somebodies butt up front!

Several fairways were cart path only due to conditions of course.

Nice Layout

This course has a very nice layout with some challenging holes. There are great view of the front range during 90% of your round. I was surprised by the lack of trees, but other than that, the course rewards good shots and definitely penalizes poor ones. It helps to know the greens as well. If you're out of position on some of the greens you could easily be staring at a three putt or worse. Overall I liked the course. The only reason that I put the course needs attention is due to the early season play and massive amount of moisture on the course.

Great Course With Long Challenges

I always enjoy playing this course. It's long but fair with reasonably wide fairways. Several holes have challenging layouts for golfers of all skill levels and the greens are well maintained. I would recommend this course.

Rough time of year.

Course was great for the most part. And the layout it absolutely gorgeous, with scenery to match. With it being April, the greens were in rough shape, as were some of the bunkers. But I'm sure once they're fully healed from the spring aeration, they'll be fantastic. Definitely planning to head back later in the season to check it out again.

Terrible

I drove 30 miles to to get to my early tee time on 4/20 @ 10:30 Once I showed up the only thing the guy in the club house could say is "we probably won't open until 1 because of wet conditions" why in the heck post tee times on golfnow if the course isn't even open? After wasting a bunch of gas I was able to find a open tee time in the area, all while Colorado national still had tee times available (even though they are closed). Total joke of a golf course staff.
