Colorado National Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,676 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

First time!
Amazing course, challenging for beginners. Just what is needed to step your game up on future course and overall play. 10/10 recommend this course to anyone looking to play golf and face a challenge
excellent facilities
!st time playing there and it was great!....Staff friendly, course in great shape.
Great course in great shape!
Pace of play 4:15. Staff (w/1 exception) very friendly and welcoming. Very good driving range with lots of targets, balls a little pricey, Large practice green is in excellent shape. And representative of the course. Fairways are green and lush. Greens are immaculate and present challenging contours and pin placements to keep you interested, Bunkers were freshly raked and as they should be. Club house, bar and grill were very nice and accommodating. All-in-all, a great golf experience at a reasonable price. Yes, they do have a military discount rate.
Great coarse in the area
This coarse is one of the best in Broomfield area. Your going to pay a little more but never have been disappointed. Pace of play on weekends can be a little slow due to coarse being little difficult for high par or non-regular golfers. I see bachelor parties struggle here because it's a little too hard for people who don't play golf. Otherwise setting is great. Staff is friend nice and helpful. There only one down side to this coarse ... no chipping green if your an non-member.
Great Course & Conditions, However, Pace Of Play Unacceptable
This is the 4th time I've played Colorado National, the home of the Colorado Buffaloes golf team. I think this course is always enjoyable to play, especially, if the sky is clear and you can see the breathtaking mountains. Last time I played here, they were reconstructing the bunkers and repairing the cart paths. The sand in the bunkers is outstanding and the wider cart paths look terriffic. They have fixed the drainage issues on hole 3 and you are now able to drive your cart in the fairway.
If you're a long hitter, you will not like the par 5's. They seperate the fairways into sections, not allowing you to bomb it off the tee. I've never been a fan of holes 12 & 15. Hole 18 is a real challenge for any golfer.
There are a lot of things to like about Colorado National. The new sand & cart paths. The starter was nice and friendly. The price was $86 for a holiday. Nothing to complain about with the greens or fairways. They have GPS to the flagstick. The rough is thick and consistent but not too high.
The reason why this course does not get a 5 star rating is because of the following. Pace of play was awful. There were course rangers but they did nothing about it. From hole 14 and in, there were 2 groups on each tee box. The greenskeeper put the pin on the edge of a severe slope on hole 12. No need to do this - only slows down play. Some of the tee boxes were a little thin. Holes 5 & 6 stand out.
Other improvements needed. There are walking paths that intersect with the golf cart paths. From holes 2 to 3 and holes 3 to 4, they need some arrows to tell you which path is the cart path. They do it from hole 8 to 9, so why not do it on these holes too. The gold and copper tee markers are too similiar. Very confusing. A very nice clubhouse and the restrooms had no paper towels in the morning.
Great course! Mediocre amenities.
Played on a Saturday and it was a 5hour round. Marshall was very friendly but did not action on the group who was playing very slow 2 groups in front of us even after 3 warnings. Staff at the turn and in restaurant was not friendly , grumpy and cart did not have alcohol at all.
Junteenth
8 of us made our way all the way here to play, we had a good day. Pace of play was slower than expected. Everything else was top notch.
Denver trip
Great course really enjoyed it as an add on to our 8 day trip. Flight wasn’t leaving until late at night so 6 of us added another round. Very pleased.
Great course
Friendly staff and great course conditions. Challenging but not punitive.
Pace Issues Again
Honestly, I love the layout of Colorado National. Great track lots of different tees usually in very good condition. Pro shop staff was friendly.
However, I went a couple of years not playing here because of pace of play issues.
We waited all day on the front nine yesterday to the point where we even called the pro shop when we had three groups on the first par 3. We were told that they knew what the problem was and that they would fix it by moving the slow group up as needed.
We turned in two hours and 20 minutes. Went to the tenth which was actually the first tee because of reverse order and there were three groups on it. One had just teed off and two of us were there waiting on the tee. If we had waited to tee off instead of leaving it would have been 2:40 easy.
The starter told us there was nothing he could do as the group in the fairway actually included one of the marshals from the club. One of the dumbest answers I’ve ever heard in my life frankly. We don’t care who’s in the group just do the job.
Five 1/2 hour rounds on Thursday afternoon are unacceptable and if we had stayed, it would’ve been at least that. Might not be going back here for while this is how it’s going to be again.
On a difficult golf course like this, there should be a Marshall every day making sure pace keeps moving. Flatly unacceptable.
This stuff drives good players away, maybe that’s the goal.
Fun course and fun layout.
The course was in pretty good shape. A few areas were under repair, but overall the course was looking good. The greens were fast and true and there were some great risk reward holes. The drink cart only made one appearance though. We were all wanting some drinks, but it only came around at the very beginning.
Needs some maintenance
Course is always fun to play. Bathrooms are in poor shape and the code readers are not functioning. The range ball machine was not working properly as well.
Still a good course, just needs a little TLC
Colorado National on the best day this week
Terrific day. Course was in good shape. Bunkers were well maintained. Putting surfaces a little slow, but fair.
Terrific layout
Course was in great shape, greens fairways and overall championship conditions. Cart paths were recently replaced and high end condition. This is a really nice course with multiple tees for all levels. Plenty of sand traps that were great conditions that one would expect at a luxury golf club. Highly recommended and looking forward to playing again. Nice pro shop with friendly staff and a full restaurant with quality finishes.
Exquisite Home of the Buffaloes
Colorado National is the home to the Colorado Buffaloes. Nice course. Nice homes surrounding the course. Could play VERY long if stretched out to full length. Pace is every 9 minute tee time slots. Told exactly 4.5 to get around. Not blistering, but expected for a busy Sunday evening. Course was in fantastic shape. Bunkers, greens, fairways, rough all good. Could tell tees get a lot of play, but that’s expected. Average width off the tee. Odd par 5s all have split fairways with difficult to reach 2nd fairway unless 285+ carry. Didn’t like the 600yd par 5s with that feature. Ran through 1st fairway a few times. So should I lay up on a 600+ par 5 off the tee? Odd. Par 3s were all good with some length. Variety of holes was very varied. Views were excellent. Amenities, club house, all top notch. GPS carts. All good. Catch a deal and go play. One of the nicer ones around Denver!
