The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks
About
The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks is touted as the best mountain golf course in Colorado and even one of the best courses in the country. Towering forests of pine and aspen frame the rolling fairways and manicured greens on this scenic layout. The crystal clear creeks and trout-filled lakes are a striking contrast to the lush green of the course and the snow-capped peaks in the distance. The golf course is known for more than its scenery though, its challenging design is a test for all skill levels. The steep-faced bunkers have deeply furrowed edges, which can be tricky but they also serve to contain tee shots that might have an increased carry because of the course's dramatic elevations. There are also water hazards to contend with on several holes.

Great course!!
Great course with great views!! Highly recommended!!
What a shame...
There are three courses in the keystone/silverthorne area that I used to absolutely love playing. The Ranch, the River and the Raven. After 2 years in CA, I returned to CO and have been pestering friends to get back to the mountains and play all three, with the Raven as a top one, along with the River course at Keystone.
I'm sad to say that the course, inclusive of the greens and patches over many of the fairways, have dropped in standard. They charge an baffling $150 for what is now a course that only really justifies half of that at the very most.
The course starter was exceptionally nice and friendly, however after that we saw no one else. I played in a 3 ball and we were behind a 4 who were truly in no rush at all. Which, to be honest is fair enough when you think that could have paid $600 to play. The reason I mention this is to explain that we waiting for up to 25 minutes on almost every hole with no site of anyone monitoring pace of play. Still, just short of 5:50 hours is good with a cart right haha???
No idea whether you want my 2 cents worth, however, I would certainly recommend checking out other courses for the experience as the only thing going for this course at the moment is the view and for the money, there are far better options in Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail. Moving forward, I'll be taking my game almost anywhere else. Sorry Raven, but you are in poor shape :(
Spectactular holes
Since the redesign this course is much more playable. Amazing elevation changes, the only drawback was that the fairways were soaked and mushy in spots. Beautiful and challenging.
We are sorry that the fairways were not in ideal conditions. We certainly appreciate the feedback about your round and truly value what our golfers say! We hope to see you again this summer.
WAY OVER PRICED
Nice layout but ridiculously overpriced!!!! They should just make it a private course, since the average everyday golfer can't afford this place!!!
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed the layout. Please check back because our rates are constantly changing!
Bad Expierence at the Raven
Our family experience at the Raven golf course was lees then pleasant. My wife, son, and myself were paired up with a twosome, and the starter had a definite problem with my wife and son playing. The starter asked if our son would be playing and we said yes. At that time the starter was very unfriendly and stated we needed to keep pace. We teed off and started our round the pace of play was slow and we were held up on the tee box and on our second shots. We were on #7 when the marshal approached us and asked if our son was playing we replied yes, he then said we would need to pay a jr fee witch at the time of check in the golf shop stated we (DID NOT) have to pay for our 7yr old to play. (the only nice thing that happened all day) anyway after being irritated by the marshal now, I politely asked the marshal to do his job and keep the pace of play moving as our group again had been held up on every hole. We made the turn and went on to play the back 9 not once seeing a refreshment cart. Aside from the gentleman who checked us in the overall experience at that course was unpleasant at best. I would not recommend this course unless the starter and marshal passed a course in personnel relations. Not a pleasant experience for my family. FYI the other courses we played that weekend were more then friendly and happy to have guests visit their facility.
We are sorry for the misunderstanding! The Raven Golf Club is a proponent of Junior golfers. Please reach out to me at ravengolfclub@outlook.com to discuss further. We would love to have you come back with your family and give us another shot!
Bugs
It was overwhelmingly buggy. I've never been on a course that had as many flies as The Ravens. They were particularly relentless on the back nine. It was difficult to focus on swinging your club while swatting flies. Maybe they don't clean up after the animals?
During this time of year the flies are out a little more than the rest of the year. Also the heavy moisture could have contributed to there being more flies than usual. We hope that you will come back and give Raven Golf Club another shot!
raven review
Spectacular course. A must play. One of the best courses I have played. Will play again when I visit Colorado.
We are so happy that we are one of the top courses you have played! We are looking forward to seeing you again next time you are in Colorado.
Raven golf courses
One of the most scenic spots to play golf I have ever played a challengeing course to say the least but very nice staff was very professional and courteous an excellent place to play for the price
Thank you for the great comments about the views and nice staff!
Exceptional Mountain Course With Fantastic Scenery
First time in CO and played this course twice. Drove the extra difference from Breckenridge - Golfnow.com price @$30. This is a $100 course value IMO. Can't think of one hole that is unfair or overly difficult in layout however, course knowledge is always nice. Fairways have room and greens are large and undulating for the most part. This doesn't mean that I believe the course is easy. I found it challenging enough as a 13HC. Greens ran true and were in great condition. Favorite holes were 8 and 9. 8 is par 3 listed at 160 yds with 150 foot elevation drop. Parred on 2nd day with PW and back pin ... ball landed in front and rolled to back. 9 is par 4 with same amount of drop. There is another par 5 on the back with significant drop as well. Drove about 315 - which never happens anywhere else for me. Unbelievable views of the Rockies !! Very nice staff and practice facilities. I've been fortunate enough to play at some great courses in US and other parts of the world and I highly recommend the Raven at Three Peaks for a great mountain golf experience !
awesome course
Couldn't find a nicer course for the price. Pace of play was good and the weather was immaculate.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the course and the value! We hope to see you again soon.
Golf at Raven
It was a beautiful day. We really enjoyed seeing the 2 moose on hole #12 and 14/15. We love this course.
So glad you enjoyed your round. We hope to see you again soon!
Early Season
Front 9 is mostly open. T boxes on #9 were sopping wet, we bypassed them to have not caused this mountain course additional trauma do to spring conditions. #10 on the back 9 had no markers on the t boxes, no flag up on the green, we were unsure if the course was closed not he back nine. Weather was becoming frightful, so we bailed on the rest of the day. Would recommend that the GolfNow site state that this course is open but with EARLY SEASON CONDITIONS, all holes may or may not be open. $35 with cart is a fair price for the experience, however Eagle is completely open at $50 and Gypsum at $55 with GREAT conditions.
Great fairways, greens and scenes!
The Raven at Three Peaks is a "must play" for a traveling golfer anxious to experience Rocky Mountain beauty with fresh, clear air, gorgeous views and no humidity.
My group of mostly out-of-state players thoroughly enjoyed playing 36 holes here last year. They seemed to enjoy playing the second round from the White tees after getting beat up from the Silver Tees on the back nine in our first round.
The fairways and greens were in fine shape other than a few boggy spots on some fairways. The Raven's biggest challenge seems to be keeping the cart paths from sliding down the mountainsides....a problem common to Summit County including I-70.
The unique features of The Raven are generally wide and lush fairways, large and fine greens that are very challenging to read and great elevation changes.
Bring your camera for great Rocky Mountain scenery combined with a fair amount of local wildlife including fox, deer, an occasional moose and ospreys that for years have had their huge nest on a post overlooking the 3rd fairway. You may see an osprey snatch a large trout from ponds of The Raven or the neighboring ponds and fly it back to its tall nest on the pole.
The Raven staff will welcome you to a great day of golf and send you off on what begins as a rather tame front nine. But as you climb from the Blue River valley uphill to the par 3 8th hole (appropriately named Buena Vista) you'll be ready for 2 very exciting downhillers. The 8th hole measures 184 yds from the Raven (tips) tees and 134 yds from the forward tees. A player with a good game should probably hit about 3 clubs less than he'd hit this distance in Texas due to the approximate 150 ft. drop from tee to green and the thin, light air at almost 9,000' above sea level. Of course this depends on the wind that day. Just don't miss left or long!
Then #9 is a breathtaking par 4 with a launch pad tee box that must sit 300 feet or more above the green on this par 4 monster. Drive your tee shot straight out into the Rocky Mountain air and watch it drop hopefully to the center of the lush, downsloping fairway. Then hit your long iron to the left front of the right sloping green, earn your birdie or par and head happily past the beautiful Raven clubhouse and patio to the even more challenging back nine.
The Raven's back nine has two very tough par 3s (#12 and 14) and five fun but challenging par 4s. But it's the two par 5s that really define the back nine here. #11 (properly named Waterloo) is a super risk/reward hole. Your tee shot hopefully will land just short of the large trout filled pond straight off the tee. A well-struck 200+ yard, high risk second shot over the pond puts you in great position for a birdie or eagle. But the more prudent shot tends to be playing the hole as a double dogleg and hit a mid to long iron left of the pond in preparation for lofting a high, soft iron to a green that can be tough to hold.
My favorite hole is The Raven's signature #16. It's a long downhill, dogleg right par 5. Measuring 601 yards from the tips and 489 yards from the forward tees this hole welcomes a long, left center tee shot followed by an equally long and well aimed second shot near or on a well- bunkered, roller coaster green. From #16 you begin a long, uphill climb through two tough par 4s and finish at a high point on the course.
After your final putt on #18 you'll drive a long, steep, downhill cart path with lots of switchbacks before returning to the clubhouse for a great lunch, dinner and/or drinks on the normally sunny patio. You've earned a beverage of choice following your Rocky Mountain high golf experience at The Raven at Three Peaks.
65 degrees and no wind at the Raven in late October was outstanding!
We arrived with the temp at about 38 degrees. My 2 brothers; one from Boston and the other from Australia, were about to kill me for making a T time in the mts when it was so warm down in Denver where we came from this am.
Since there was a frost delay and the bar made great Bloodys the bros calmed down. We t'd off at 11:00.
By the 2nd hole shorts and golf shirts were perfect.
The greens were sandy but given the day not so bad.
Thank you Raven for a great price and a fantastic experience on a perfect golf day in the Colorado Rockies!
WOW....NORMALLY TOO PRICEY....
FOR $35 I'D DRIVE UP EVERY WEEK!!! bE BACK NEXT WEEK IF THE SAME DEAL APPLIES!!!! GREAT LAYOUT AND CONDITIONS....GREAT VIEWS
a bear moved the ball
we were lucky ....the bears only bothered the golf balls. tough course ....4.1 star rating. cold and wind made for a challenging round! tough putting!
Worth the Drive and Money for the views alone!
I play at this course annually on my wife and I's trip to Colorado and the course never disappoints. The scenery alone framed by mountains and Aspens are enough to make you forget the world or a bad golf shot!
The course is challenging but rewards good shot selection and accuracy. With the slope and being strung througout the foothills adds nice challenges for shots and course management. The course is always in excellent shape for the greens, fairways and tee boxes with links style rough pushing accuracy.
The staff is always polite and greets me promptly and has answered any questions I have. While basic, the driving range serves all my needs to loosen up with the driving range as well as a putting green and sand/chipping green.
Worth the drive up the mountains and prices for this gorgeous, fun course! I'll be back next year!
fall golf
See my ratings. Down side was it was windy but can't last blame for that.
What a mountain course should be.
We picked this course based on what their web site said and we were not disappointed. This course was the most beautiful and scenic course I have ever played. It was a slow day for the club and it offered my friend and I the opportunity to take lots of pictures of the course and the beautiful and picturesque mountains that are all around it. We were in no hurry and there were no groups in front or behind to worry about. We spent about six hours playing and enjoying a great lunch at the turn. The staff could not have been more friendly and courteous to us. We loved it!!! The course itself in addition to being so pretty and scenic was in excellent condition. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely plan on playing it.
