Port Ludlow Golf Resort

I've been playing Port Ludlow on and off for over 25 years, and the condition of the course this time was as good or better than it has ever been. Kudos to the greens superintendent. Also Kudos to Golf Now for providing a round for the great bargain of $25.

This was our first time playing this course. Lost a few balls, but would play this one again.

Well maintained course. Especially enjoyed neatly cut fairways and rough. Good greens.

After reading about how the course had been brought back to being drier and more playable I decided it was time to head back to Port Ludlow and give it a shot again. What I discovered was a course that needs to be drier and mowed closer. The fairways are the depth the rough should be and the rough was rough alright. The greens were very smooth but so slow. It appeared to my group that it was way over watered, probably worried it might get too dry. My suggestion would be set the mowers lower and cut it to a level that would make this course top notch.

I play Port Ludlow about 7 to 10 times a year for the past few years and I played last July when the course was completely 'burnt-out' including the greens...it was 'HORRIBLE' and I vowed never to return as it was obvious 'THEY' no longer cared about golf...ROLL IT FORWARD 9-months...The Port Ludlow Staff re-committed itself to the course and bringing it back to the 'way it used to be 20-plus years ago...They have addressed the watering issues, drainage issues and are giving the the whole course a 'face-lift'...Amazing, Simply Amazing what they have done so far and you can see their 'VISION' as you play the course...Looking forward to playing this course more, especially in the Summer months...I had a chance to speak with SHELLY from the course after my round last week and he confirmed their commitment into making Port Ludlow a top Public Course once again...Bravo!!!

Wait til you see the sand traps...white sand...real white sand

Very wet. Beautiful setting. Old growth stumps. Very nice. Great greens.

Greens a little sandy but had little effect on play. Not much sand in bunkers. Fairway grass longer than most courses. Staff excellent, handed her my reservation confirmation she handed me a cart key said sign here and do you want to tee off earlier.

What's with all the haterade for this course? The reviews on this course are biased or composed by country club people who prefer immaculate course conditions to go with their 40 handicap. Look, if you want a true Washington esque course carved straight out of woods and mountain than look no further. The course design has uphill, downhill, dogleg blindshots which causes you to play conservative or go for it. Yes, the fairways are in poor condition but how could they not be when you take in the slope, dry arid ground and inevitable erosion? If you are in a dead spot move it to some grass people. The sand faced similar issues but the placement and design of the traps make up for poor sand. The greens ran true and smooth, by far best conditions I've played on in Washington and for that matter for the majority of the golf season in other states. This course can't be passed up, factor in the golf now deals, the inspiring terrain and immaculate green conditions and well.... you can thank my review later.

Beautiful fall day to play golf at Port Ludlow. Course is in great shape.

Very challenging with the roughs not being cut. Lost several balls

Great lay out for a course however the fairways were in terrible shape, the tees were in bad shape but the greens were little better. Got stuck behind one real slow foursome for a few holes but once past them the course played pretty quickly.

It is sad to see the slow demise of a golf course, but we were witness to one during this play. Nine of the 27 holes have been closed and maintenance on the remaining 18 is spotty at best. The fairways were moth-eaten and finding a decent lie most of the way required "creativity". The traps were compacted and virtually unplayable. The tees were mostly dirt; the greens, however, putted pretty well. This course used to be one of the premier courses around and the routing of the course really is interesting. With many of the down hill tee shots it was virtually impossible to keep the ball in the fairway since there was very little grass and the ground was rock-hard. In my golf package, this was my choice and it was a mistake.

Nice course design, fairways are in horrible condition not sure what's going on it would have been nice to know this fact before I drove an hour and fifteen minutes to play. I would like to play again after they fix the fairway issues maybe next year.

Had heard of irrigation problems at Ludlow. Caught one of the GolfNow specials so I decided to give it a try. Greens were great! Can't say much for fairways and tee boxes. Very burnt or dried out from lack of water and drought conditions. Love the course layout but w/it being so dry I had problems keeping the ball in play...it kept Rollin.

This was my 2nd time to this course, the 1st time my 14 yr old son and I only played the front nine. This time out I meet 2 others who where from the area so they knew the layout which benefitted me. The course, like the rest of Washington is going through a drought. The Fairways had patches of brown grassy areas and the roughs were easier from what I remember. The Greens were fast but true to the roll. With small patches of dried out patches.

I am only in my 5th yr as a golfer and I usually shoot in the mid to low 90's. I was able to keep it together by playing a safe game by not over swinging because of all the doglegs, tight fairways and many lies that could end up behind many trees. The tee boxes were a mixed patch of brown and green grass, but never affected your drives. The 1st and 2nd holes put me in for 2 double bogeys because of the blind shots over hilly areas, but the next 7 holes I was able to reajust and ended up with a 44 for the front. The back nine started off better with.two Bogeys and 2 pars but Mother Nature decided my fate with a continual rain and thunder for the rest of the afternoon.

I've played here numerous times and never seen it in such poor condition. There must be a problem with irrigation system as fairways, tee boxes and greens are brown / dead.
This is usually a great course but they are obviously having problems now and I would not recommend playing here until they are fixed.

the courses was like play on concrete. very hard, dry ground with very little green grass. they reported that watering system was not working. this should have been disclosed to us at the course. maybe a discount or something because of the very poor condition of course.

This summer has been hard on all the golf courses in the area, and this one is no different. But, it certainly is a better course than most, the fairways change elevation and undulate. The greens are a little fast, but are challenging. Overall, this course is a good one and fairly long.

Don't get me wrong, the course is picturesque with well framed holes, but it's playing pretty bad right now. The fairways are burnt out and very hard. The ball just bounces and rolls forever, most likely into a spot of bother. Once you get to the green, there slow and had to really hit them. Needless to say, it was a difficult, trying day. I understand it's been abnormally hot and dry, and water is expensive, but I feel this course deserves to be maintained better because it's a beautiful place. I hope it gets better.

I've played this course for over 25 years. One of my favorites. The driest I've seen it, because of the drought, I believe. Fairways a little rough, but greens fine. They've moved up the white tees to make it more playable for majority of golfers but still challenging and beautiful. Every hole is different and has it's own personality.
