White Horse Golf Club

About
White Horse Golf Club has one of the toughest courses in the Northwest. Situated on the Kitsap Peninsula, the course is located just five minutes south of the Kingston ferry terminal. The course sits on the Puget Sound between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, offering panoramic views on every hole. When the Suquamish Tribe bought the club in 2010, one of their top priorities was to make the course more playable. They enlisted John Harbottle for the job, a local architect who has designed several layouts throughout the state. By taking out nearly half of the bunkers, he opened up the greens and made them more approachable. He also widened the fairways and made the landing areas more generous. Since the update, White Horse Golf Club has become one of the most popular on the peninsula.

Awesome, Challenging Course
White Horse GC was a perfect golf experience, everything about the course was high quality considering the heavy rainfall over the last few weeks. The green are very firm and roll fast. The fairways were firm with very little standing water. A very challenging course, keep it in the fairway to have a decent score...bring lots of balls if you battle a hook/slice. This course is fantastic and a great value considering you have to take a ferry from Seattle to reach it.
The last round of 2020?
The course was in good shape, though somewhat soft - as to be expected this time of year. The greens were surprizingly fast and challenging as always.
Overcast weather great golf
Golf course is in great shape. It would be nice if golf carts had navigation. It is really hard to figure out distances. Pace of play was good and cart girl was friendly.
A treasure
I could play this course over and over and not be bored. Will play again in the next seven days before I head home to California. If it was in Orange County,
Ca, it would be my home course.
The greens were very challenging, fast and “interesting”. I was intimidated until after 5 holes when I got my confidence back.
Beautiful course.
Course was in great condition, with great surroundings. Had some holes for all different levels of golfers that made it fun and a little challenging. Highly recommend this course to everyone.
Everything you need
I've played this course 3 times in the last couple weeks and it keeps convincing me it's worth taking the ferry over from Edmond's. It is only a 10-15 min drive from the Kingston ferry or they have a free shuttle (temporarily not operating due to Covid). The course layout is difficult from any 5 sets of tee's they offer. Each tee will provide different hills and bunkers in the fairways that will come into play. I recently played Salish Cliffs and saw similarities between the course layouts with rolling fairways, fescue and tree lined OB making it challenging to find your ball. The greens also provide a challenge if missed with bunkers typically playing below the hole and tough angles around the putting surface. The greens roll true and have great speed but it will vary depending on the weather conditions. The course can be wet with the rain forest climate but the course drains well. Pace of play has not been much of a problem here but you will run into an occasionally slow group trying to find there lost balls in the woods or struggling with difficult shots. The staff and amenities are top notch for a resort and I would recommend anyone try this course to get a true Pacific Northwest experience. There is great value to be had if you find the right deal online and they offer a rise & shine deal before 9:30 am on the weekdays. This course should be on your list if you are in the Kitsap Peninsula and I would also recommend Port Ludlow, Golf Mountain or Trophy Lake if you want to make a full day trip or do the replay for only $25.
Always a gem
Make the trip. Right of the ferry. Immaculate course. Challenging. Bring your A game.
Buckle Up
White Horse is a favorite. Very beautiful layout and good service. It’s a little out of the way but worth the drive. However, don’t go if you’re not a good golfer or don’t mind having a course whup you into submission (which can happen even to the best golfers). Simply put, this course is tough. Enjoy the challenge!
1st day back from quarantine COID-19 lockdown
The course was in stellar shape with fairways like memory foam feel, the greens didn’t have a blemish on any hole and the number 3 tee placement was challenging to all levels.
Staff excellent
It was a cold, windy day but the course was in really nice shape. The staff let us start as soon as we got there which it wasn't very busy on the course.I have been there 2 times before & it's been great every visit. The only thing I don't care for is the hour & 45 minutes drive one way to get there, other than that everything was great but my golfing that day.I will be back soon.
Sandy greens but still pretty fast.....
Used every club in my bag playing from the Blues today.
Fiarways are in great shape for this time of year and give the greens about a week or so to start rolling true.
Looking forward to playing here again when our club comes to visit in mid March.
Almost!
Bruce has done a wonderful job with the course this fall, 15 great holes and three wet ones !
