Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club

First time playing here and a solo round. I found it quite tough. It’s not a long course and the weather was about perfect. But there are quite a few blind shots from the fairway. There are some markers on most holes but if you’re on the wrong side of the fairway then you can’t see them and have no idea where you’re going. A couple times I thought I was laying up and dropped it short in the trouble. Read many concerns about the green conditions. I thought they were excellent. Tee boxes were good as were fairways. Bunkers were hard. If you want to play a links style course, with some nice views and don’t want to burst the bank, give this a go.

Friendly welcome in the pro shop, I was booked to go off later and was allowed to go out earlier, it's almost 2 completely different 9 holes, 1st 9 hilly, up and down, 2nd 9 flatter with some blind tee shots aiming at poles, which makes it interesting the 1st you play them, this was my first visit.

Good laid out course, the only problem were the greens, they were very poor, I'd rate them 4 out of 10 , which is a shame as its the only thing that let's the course down.

Newburgh is a course NOT to be missed! From the beautiful seaside views from the hills of the front 9, to the challenging river-side links on the back 9, every hole here is both fun and memorable. Add the effects of the North Sea wind, and many holes play longer and shorter than their marked yardage! There aren't many courses like Newburgh.

Superb return visit.

Greens had recently had “maintenance” so with the holes all over them, were a bit “bobbly”.

Everything else excellent

Course was in poor condition- greens had been punched - not mentioned on advert - should have neem a much cheaper rate.

Had food in clubhouse restaurant- very poor.

Back nine plays much better than front.

Pro shop was closed… on a Saturday….

Great course made of 2 different nines. One is hilly and the other a true old coastal links by the sea. Buggies and hand carts available for those golfers who fly into Scotland. Quiet on the course so lots of choice in tee times. Course in great condition - fast and dry in summer when we played. Bar/Restaurant not open when we played. Not a bad drive north out of Aberdeen.

Really enjoyed the challenge of this course, having not played many links courses I found this one great value and a fair test of golf , beautiful views and the club house is spectacular, will definitely be back

I tried this course out as I got a good deal on golf now , I found the course to be a fair challenge and enjoyed my round , found the course in great condition and the views was spectacular, I feel the greens could be a bit better but they wasn’t bad , I preferred the front 9 probably due to the history of it , the back nine was ok but more straight forward, the club house is spectacular with fantastic views over the course , I would definitely recommend and will be back one day

Course in very good condition for time of year. Green keepers busy in all areas of course. Shaping up nicely for season starting

A course of two half’s, both enjoyable and challenging. All round positive experience, light wind, dry ground conditions. Definitely play again.
