Golfing in the famous mearns rolling hills
A short 9 holer squeezed into a picturesque nook of north east scotlands mearns countryside, made famous by Lewis Grassic Gibbons novel “a sunset song. What’s not to like!
Auchenblae great for beginner
Great course not too long for a beginner. Good range of distance between holes. Challenging too with the rough and the hills. Lovely views. Play is fast paced.
Great Golf Course with lovely Views
1st time playing here and was pleasantly surprised. The course is challenging and well kept. Beautiful views. Nice and easy check in at course, scorecards available. People play this course nice and quick, there is no hold ups, would definitely return.
9 holes
Auchenblae is a nice parkland 9 hole challenge. Some nice par 3s nothing long for a par 4 but nice. Parking and road into course very poor and mure suited to a 4x4 but once parked and unloaded thee is a truck to the first tee. We had to ask a couple as they finished off the 3rd which way to go. Greens have no irrigation system so in not bad condition considering. A nice round and near to a few options for lunch.
Course Comments
Only observation was that the green were a bit scorched due to this dry hot period
Apart from that it’s a lovely course and staff are always very helpful and friendly
Great short course!
Really enjoyed this one. Friendly welcome. Nice wide fairways and good sight lines. Some fun challenging holes too. Greens in great condition.
Small but perfectly formed
Lovely course, lovely staff would highly recommend this course and will certainly be back to play again
Excellent course for someone like me who hasn’t played for many years
Holiday Golf
Great little holiday course.
Girlfriend just starting to play golf and suited us perfectly. Great value and at that price wasn’t sure on what we were going to get, but was pleasantly surprised.
Great course , shame no clubhouse or to sit down for a bacon roll tea/coffee
Hidden Gem
Great little course been around a long time but unfortunately never made the cut for my 2002 Sunday Telegraph Directory of golf. Run by volunteers Alan who was on duty was very friendly and professional. Allowed me to slot in early and play this lovely golf course. Interesting holes which are memorable and all different. Well kept secret but great value for money. Would suit all standards of golf and great lift for my short game. Friendly members. Played it on my own but enjoyed the course and the views. Greens were not easy . Would recommend for the experience and great value.
Hidden gem
We loved playing this course. Excellent condition and well laid out. Really is a hidden gem.
Fantastic short course
This course is on the short side distance wise but is really interesting and in fantastic condition.
The fairways and greens were first class.
It is in a beautiful location surrounded by stunning countryside.
9 hole gem
What a brilliant 9 hole course. Weather was lovely and views on course were great. Definitely play again. Compliments to green keeper and staff.
Hidden gem
OK it's only a 9 holer, but this course is in immaculate condition, I couldn't believe how well it played. The option to book 18 holes would be nice, but that's a small gripe
