First and last time
It was extremely crowded because of a women’s tournament Then when it thinned out but the pace was still slow - 5 hour round. Some people appeared ahead of us out nowhere. Most frustrating was that sprinklers were on at several fairways so had to be navigated and the fairways were being mowed on holes that were being played on To add to that the course is not in good condition
Great pace
This was by far the best experience I have ever had here. Pace was GREAT, only waited on a couple holes, single behind us never rushed us or even needed to play through. Overall, everything was great
Great Course Slow players
Love La Mirada cause I grew up there but the pace of play was horrible. 3 group back up at holes 5,6,7 and a 4 group back up at 9 and 11. Horrible pace.
William F. Bell Design
La Mirada Golf Course is a William F. Bell design. The Bell family designed dozens of golf courses in California and the West. La Mirada is a truly great golf course. William Bell designed his courses to reward logical and skillful play. If you hit a long, straight drive, you are rewarded with an easier approach shot. If you hit a short straight drive, the greens have openings to accept a 3-Wood or Long Iron shot. But, if your drive is crooked. Then, you need to analyze the best recovery shot combinations because the angles and elevations can serve up a double-bogey really fast. So, the course rewards the thinking player as well as the talented player. Bell always follows the terrain in the best way possible. His layouts are natural and appear straight forward. However, if you stop thinking, the strokes will add up. In other words, if two players of equal talent play his designs, they won't necessarily shoot the same scores. His course don't destroy you, but, they add-on a stroke here or there. You always leave the course believing you could have shot lower. But, the only way to do that is to think during the whole round.
Golf is gentleman's game
Too many ugly stick SWINGERS riding carts on the green, near the greens, and par 3s.
Not fixing divots nor sands.
New.definition of playing golf at La Mirada is WAITING.
Overly crowded course
It was my first at this course. Right away the parking lot was crowded already around 12:30. My group of 3 turned into a random group of 5. Had to wait 5-10mins almost every hole before my group was able to tee up. The group behind us was hoovering over every time we stepped up to the tee box which made it really uncomfortable to hit. The only thing that kept me from leaving after the front 9 was the deal we got. Even though the deal I'm sure I will not be returning back until the course stops over booking.
I'm not sure why all the negative reviews about not enough carts. I'm 55 and my golf partner is 61, we both walked the course. Very nicely kept, and great price for the money. We'll be back often.
Great day!
Great day for golf pace of play is only negative! Greens were awesome for a public course will defiantly play again.
tee time
Unbelievably pack out had a tee time 1:15 had four groups of foursome ahead of me and it was 1:15 already, they refunded me my money, and said they were sorry, looks like they book to many, and don't have enough carts either, it is off my list. very nice staff.
Course is extremely slow do to type of customers (Asian ) and they allow 5 somes and do not patrol the pace of play or enforce .
Good value for the money
Compared to other courses you will get you money's worth. It plays slow the first three holes but after that it moves very quick. the layout of the course is really nice.
Course over booked.
We booked at La Mirada course. Course seemed to be way over booked. My group didnt tee off till 45mins from our original scheduled tee time. The course also ran out of golf carts, how does that happen! I would not recommend this course to a friend. Front desk seems to be very unorganized.
Poor pace of play
Our tee time was 8:44am, but had to wait until 9:13am.. There were no tournaments and no fog or frost delay.. 30 minute delay is due to poor management.. And it took 5:25 minutes to complete the 18 holes..
Worst rounding ever
We waited carts for about 30 minutes. Course condition was really bad. We had to wait at least 10 minutes at every hole. No ranger pushes game pace and we couldn't finish even we teed-off at 12:15. I would never ever play this course again. This was terrible experience to all of us.
Surprised
I gave an earlier review to this course. I came back after 6 months. I guess today must be still a hot day in LA. So, the golf course was surprisingly open. Because of that, I am able to complete my round in 3 hours as I am able to play through a couple groups. Course conditions deserve a pass. After all, it's tough the last few days when LA is 100+ in the afternoons. Hopefully today is not an aberration on how fast I got through the course.
