Too many slow players, I will never return.
Course charged me for no show player. Blamed golfon.
Good course and conditions, poor poor pace from the start
Arrived 30 minutes early for a 6:44 am tee time and found out from the other golfers they were already running 30 minutes behind schedule (at 615 am). Course played good and was in good condition and we finished our round in 4 hours and 30 minutes.
My reservation was for (2) however my 2nd didn't show and he couldn't be reached. The girl working in the pro shop told me I wouldn't be charged since I showed and filled the reservation. Today I was charged an additional $46.99 for his no show (even though I was already told I wouldn't be charged). So now I have paid $94 to play this course. I spoke to the pro shop manager and she told me they are charged for the reservation by golfnow BUT golfnow told me if the course submitted a reversal to them no one would be charged. The course declined to do anything to help me and now I am out the money for absolutely nothing. This is even more frustrating since I took the time after my round to report the people they paired me with for driving their cart all over the protected areas of the course (1st cut next to green, parking between the sand traps and greens, driving on the fairways on par 3's).
This courses service is terrible and by the sound of managers voice she could have cared less. So I told her that I will never play their course again and will tell everyone about their terrible customer service. Very very very disappointed and frustrated.
Unexpected great round
Really like this course but typically La Mirada can be a bit slow as far as pace of play is concerned. Saturday was one of the exceptions, pace was great (we never had to wait on a single hole for the groups in front of us). Course and greens were in great condition. Add in a perfectly sunny day that was supposed to potentially rain and we had an unexpected great round.
Course
Greens had sand on them. Don't know why. Course fairways could be in better shape.
Slow slow slow
Are you ready to play a five hour plus around. There were way too many five somes out on the course and the Marshall said that she was telling people the increase the rate of play however we did not see the rate of play increase at all. Too many Golfers taking an obscene amounts of time with practice swings and redos on shots. I’ve never seen a course with so many five somes. Over priced and over crowded.
Definitely play it again
Very nice course and fun. Tough par 3’s. 160 yards to 195 yards. Great greens and lay out. Better than Fullerton golf course.
Forgiving Golf in a Crowd
Played this course a couple of times on weekends and found it fun and mostly very playable and forgiving - a number of bare spots, but generally ok fairways and very nice greens. Weekend pace was good and enjoyable - perhaps because the price was higher. Played on Friday, and while the course looked like there were a ton of open times for discounted fees, when we arrived it was a zoo, with golfers waiting around for carts and tee off. Starter was surly, and told us they were 1/2 hour behind on start times. When we did get called we were behind a 3 cart five some of women who insisted on hitting in order with very long set up for every shot/put. No Marshall evident. We managed to get 13 holes in before giving up after 5 hours...
First and last time
It was extremely crowded because of a women’s tournament Then when it thinned out but the pace was still slow - 5 hour round. Some people appeared ahead of us out nowhere. Most frustrating was that sprinklers were on at several fairways so had to be navigated and the fairways were being mowed on holes that were being played on To add to that the course is not in good condition
Great pace
This was by far the best experience I have ever had here. Pace was GREAT, only waited on a couple holes, single behind us never rushed us or even needed to play through. Overall, everything was great
Great Course Slow players
Love La Mirada cause I grew up there but the pace of play was horrible. 3 group back up at holes 5,6,7 and a 4 group back up at 9 and 11. Horrible pace.
William F. Bell Design
La Mirada Golf Course is a William F. Bell design. The Bell family designed dozens of golf courses in California and the West. La Mirada is a truly great golf course. William Bell designed his courses to reward logical and skillful play. If you hit a long, straight drive, you are rewarded with an easier approach shot. If you hit a short straight drive, the greens have openings to accept a 3-Wood or Long Iron shot. But, if your drive is crooked. Then, you need to analyze the best recovery shot combinations because the angles and elevations can serve up a double-bogey really fast. So, the course rewards the thinking player as well as the talented player. Bell always follows the terrain in the best way possible. His layouts are natural and appear straight forward. However, if you stop thinking, the strokes will add up. In other words, if two players of equal talent play his designs, they won't necessarily shoot the same scores. His course don't destroy you, but, they add-on a stroke here or there. You always leave the course believing you could have shot lower. But, the only way to do that is to think during the whole round.
Golf is gentleman's game
Too many ugly stick SWINGERS riding carts on the green, near the greens, and par 3s.
Not fixing divots nor sands.
New.definition of playing golf at La Mirada is WAITING.
Overly crowded course
It was my first at this course. Right away the parking lot was crowded already around 12:30. My group of 3 turned into a random group of 5. Had to wait 5-10mins almost every hole before my group was able to tee up. The group behind us was hoovering over every time we stepped up to the tee box which made it really uncomfortable to hit. The only thing that kept me from leaving after the front 9 was the deal we got. Even though the deal I'm sure I will not be returning back until the course stops over booking.
