Much improved
I like to play Vanny once or twice a year out of nostalgia. That said, coming out of winter it is in great shape despite the weather. Time you play is probably the biggest factor to enjoy your self. Play at a non-busy time and its a lot of fun.
Old Vanny
This course is in need of severe repair. the greens have gotten faster but the fairways and rough around the green need plenty of work. the cart paths are full with potholes and the course maintenance has fallen off significantly. I love the course because it's by home. If I had to travel here I would rather play somewhere else.
This Course is so addictive.
The layout is so beautiful, I actually dubbed this my favorite golf course I've ever played. It may not be major championship caliber, but the whole course gives you a feel very similar to one.
Winter golf 10/10
Played here on Presidents Day with my brother and father. Course was well kept and the greens were maintained well for off-season. If you are looking to get out and play during the off season this is the place to be.
One of the best in NYC
We played a round in a warm February day, can’t complain about that. Van Cortland is a fantastic layout and has stood the test of time. It’s a great value in the NYC area. Course was in good shape.

Greens are excellent. Reception and starter are efficient.
Fairways and bunkers were in expected and acceptable compromised condition for February.
THE GREENS ,CHALLENGING TO READ ,WERE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND CONTRIBUTED TO A VERY ENJOYABLE ROUND.

Loved this course!
Had a great time golfing mid-Feb. Amazing conditions considering it is middle of winter. Will plan to come a lot during the summer, some great challenging holes and some fun easier holes to balance the course.
Great Golf Day !
We played a Friday afternoon at 2PM, got in 16 holes before darkness, weather was 50's course was in great shape for February ! $30 bucks,$10 for cart ! It was a great afternoon!
It's a fine layout but the staff is not very friendly and the conditions were pretty bad. To be fair it was February, but nonetheless the prices were way too high for the time of year, the course conditions, and the pace of play.
