Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course

I booked here on a whim. Pace of play was great, as we never had to wait on a hole after hole #1, got through 18 holes in 3:45 with myself and 1 other random I was paired with - both of us mid/high handicappers. Course was mostly very well kept, greens were in good condition - but they are VERY challenging greens with varying speeds, slopes, and some pin locations basically on an angle, Didn't score particularly well as I putt a LOT trying to figure out these greens.

Also - DON'T walk this course, the layout is a bit rough and there are at least 3x you'll have to walk 10-15 mins just to get to the next hole.

I have played vancortlandt golf course many times, but this was the most enjoyable round I have ever played. The greens are truly In amazing shape and I can’t remember when the greens ran this fast and true.

They need an active course marshall to manage the flow around the golf course.

I have played this course a ton and with the exception of cart path only due to rain, it was the best conditions i have played there in years. The greens rolled faster (fairer) than I can remember. Bravo to the VCPGC crew.

I notice that the fairways this year(currently) are much better than I remembered in the past. Some Tee boxes need work but I did noticed a big improvement. I hope you ever is taking care of the greens continues because it’s a very nice course and with nicer greens I believe you’ll have more golfers.

I have been playing here for years and the course was never in the best of shape but they brought in a new superintendent this year and I have been slowly seeing the changes. The greens are in spectacular shape and it looks like they are starting to work on the tee boxes to get grass back on them. I’m excited to see what next golf season will bring.

There is no grass on tee boxes. Greens resemble an uncut tee box at nicer tracks. Walked off the course after hole 11, which was 3 hours and 15 min after we tee’d off.

I've been playing here for years, but my last experience made me never want to come back. They don't bother to post aeration notices on line, and when I brought this up in the pro shop, casually, the guy behind the desk dismissed me saying, "never play here again then. never come back." So I won't. Not the first time this particular employee has been *beyond* rude to me (other regulars tell similar stories). It completely ruined my day. Combined with the fact that they don't even put water on the course or have snack shack employees working (what if i want a beer at the turn, or a candy bar?), I'm just going to avoid this course from now on. I feel badly about this because the course pro and the course GM are both incredibly kind, but I won't put myself in this situation again, and will be seeking a refund due to the unplayable (newly aerated) conditions.

The starter was extremely rude and pricing is outrageous for the course conditions/pace of play. Over $70 with a cart for a 5 and a half + hour round for 2 of us. Absolute joke. Tee boxes are so hard you’ll break your tee trying to get it in the ground and there’s 0 grass. Greens are in decent conditions but fairways and bunkers are awful. All around terrible experience.
