Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course

It was a perfect day. weather was great and we finished in under 4 hrs. We like the last 4 holes the best.

While a lot of courses around NYC are not in very good shape at the moment this one is! The greens are in very good shape so is the course!

On a whim, decided to play at 5:40pm. I knew I'd only get 9 holes in and for the price, I chose to play 9 at VC rather than at Mosholu. I just started to gey back into the game and did start a bit slow, but had no one behind me. I walked and I really enjoyed my time. The Tee's are a bit rough, but I didn't mind. The greens I felt were fine and now slow. Overall, the course looked maintained albeit Covid and Hurricane. I'd go back and play again.

Unfortunately we got hit with a thunder and lighting stone on the 11th hole and the course get flooded out so we could play 11. It was fun while it lasted

Cow pasture. That’s all I could say. Greens were so slow because They have not been cut and the tee boxes are just a joke. Very disappointing and not worth the money

Hadn't played Van Cortland, Vanny, in 40 years. Where I learned how to play. So I played for three days in a row. Ok, not much grass on Tee Boxes, fairways are ok, and the greens are slow. But, I loved it! I play 2-4 times a week, and on better conditions. But, this is Vanny, the Oldest Public Golf Course in America. Not long, except for 2 long par fives (600,550), and have to be straight or start playing with some trees. Staff and Pro were great during this time of Covid.

The overall conditions have never been better. The care and ability that this course must have is first class. The greens snd fairways as well as t boxes are all in great shape for a city course is very suprising

Van Cortlandt employee Steve King was incredibly rude, disrespectful and hostile to my group. My friends and I are certainly not the fastest players on earth, but there was another foursome directly in front of us with a senior player moving significantly slower than us. It's a crowded public course in the late afternoon... this is what happens.

Still, Mr King (playing in the group behind us) took it upon himself to drive up and approach us halfway through a hole to yell and swear at us for not going as fast as he would like. Having no desire to be berated or disrespected we attempted to drive away, but Mr King continued pursuing us and parked his cart in front of ours blocking us from moving forward so he could continue his tirade. This extremely unprofessional behavior is absolutely unacceptable and we will not be returning.

I played two days after the hurricane so I wasn’t expecting much. Was in better shape than expected.

The $20.00 charge per person charge for cart rental is ridiculous and should be lowers immediately.

Greens need to be a little faster but this is what you get on a muni course.

Tee boxes need a lot of love. I know the city courses were handcuffed by the very late opening due to the Covid virus restrictions but the tee boxes have been in poor shape for years now. Please do something with the first and tenth tee boxes, please !!

The ranger was running around doing his job so bravo to that. Vannie is a pleasurable course when in good shape.

I expect things to improve in the future.

I live 10 minutes from this course, but yet I choose to play Westchester courses because of the friendly staff in Westchester,. The staff at Van Cortlandt golf course from the kitchen to the person issuing starter tickets, to the ranger on the first hole (who has been doing this for 12 years) are the most unprofessional staff on a golf course I have been around., but nothing will happen since this is a city government run course..

The course it asked was great, except for the tee boxes. I will never spend 146.00 for two and a cart on this course again.

This was the day after the storm, but the tee boxes can use some work.

Guy in the pro shop was very rude. Swore at me for being tight on my teetime due to traffic. Not great.

Was also packed with no rangers maintaining pace of play. Took over three hours to do nine holes. Won’t be going back.
