Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course

The pace was slow. It took us 5 hrs to finish the round. But it was a very nice day so I guess everyone want to play a round of golf in the middle of February. The staffs are very nice and easy going. I will definitely return..

good course to play even in cold weather. Greens in great

condition even this time of year, always a challenge. amenities few as grill is closed for now.. definitely worth a visit.

The greens yesterday where unbelievably good for this time of year. The tee boxes could use some sand and seed. But can’t expect perfect conditions on February first

Considering the volume of rain the day before and we were playing January 26th, I thought the was in great shape. Standard frost delay.

If you love golf and live in the Northeast you have to go to Van Cortland. The only muni open all year round as long as no snow on the ground.

I played on a raw January day, and the course was in great shape, especially the greens. Great place to keep the rust off in the winter but on a summer weekend day it’s not worth 6 hours of your life as it is packed.

For winter golf this only course open if no snow on ground. Oldest muni in US. Good layout and pace, even on weekend. Highly recommend a try, worth it. Easy access to highways.

Course played good. Condition is what you’d expect for this time of year.

Played the course a couple of days after heavy rains but it was mostly dry. No roll on the fairways due to that and the greens were being aerated. Course still played well . First tee box was a mat which is being addressed. Van Cortlandt is the oldest public course in the US

Played this past Tuesday. 30 minute delay to tee off a mat on the first hole. Greens were being aerated and a bunch of holes had temp greens. The foursome in front of us were playing skins so they were super slow and could care less that they were backing the course up. I was told that one of them was the food manager at the course, he should have known better. Needless to say the round took 5 hours, ridiculous for a week day. Every green was unplayable. Paying full green fees is criminal to play here. Don’t waste your time until spring.

Fairways in good shape, greens in mostly excellent shape, very slow front 9, but expected.

Driving range mat for the first tee box is embarrassing, not the first impression one wants especially with a perfectly good tee box behind it for the past 2 years!! Waited for 3 groups on the AstroTurf mat, waited on every hole to tee off and waited to play on. We walked off the course after 14 and noticed they still had a 3 group backup in the first stall of the driving range, oh I mean the first tee. SMH, won’t be playing here again this year.

Grew up in Riverdale, last played this course over 20 years ago. On the Upper East Side now, obviously very close and convenient, good bang for the buck.

Layout of the holes a bit funky, but had a great round.

The fairways are horrible. Weeds and dirt . Hard to find a good lie.

Almost took 6 hours and the rangers didn’t mind it at all. Hmmn.
