Good course, could do with a few amenities
It is a good course. Hole 2 and 12 are par 5s to challenge the average golfer, some of the par 3s are also tough. The back nine is very interesting, especially the last 4. The kitchen and the snack shop open late, if you have an early tee time, you won't get anything. The restroom in the course is terrible. There is no food cart going around. Bunkers are hard, some tee boxes need upkeep.
Improved
I have trolled in the past, but they have made a lot of improvements and the course was great. Ranger was a jerk for no reason, as the group ahead of us had a quick par 3 and he unnecessarily snipped at us to keep up. We were waiting in two holes. Know how to do your job.
Anyway, other than that, great round!
Great Course
we played Vanny for the first time the course was in Beautiful shape Club pro was pleasant and accommodating, took the time to go over course with us,we were in NY for a VGA event the following day and he told us about the various things the course does for Vets, we played on one of the hottest and humid days of the year walked the course as other have posted there are some holes where the walk to the next hole was quite far and a cart ( based on the heat and humidity) would have been the smart way to go, but we enjoyed the course and its layout
Nice course near Manhattan
Nice layout, good maintenance, sometimes need join with others because too many golfers here.
Toilet inside golf course is too dirty and smelly.
Horrible service, unfriendly staff
Let me start by saying that I love Van cortland lay out and history sadly that’s where all the good ends and the bad starts, the staff at the pro shop are rude unfriendly and not professional at all, I walked I didn’t ride but me and my partner were change for the cart after the game was over I came back to get a refund and instead I was charged twice. Unlike any other public course I’m not allow to bring my wife as an spectator and give a bad attitude when ask if she could come. Bad place to play
This course overall, is flatter than most I have played on.
Have been playing for only two years but I have played on 8 different courses between NYC & Westchester. I feel very relaxed when I play at Van. If you haven’t played here, you should schedule a tee-time.
Great Public Course
The course was surprisingly well maintained with a very friendly staff. It was a very easy trip from Manhattan, I will frequent the course to work on my game.
Fun time
Always a pleasure playing Van Cortlandt.
Pace was a little faster than usual.
Van Cortland
Course is in very good shape. Needs a couple more Marshall's to keep things moving but overall had a blast.
