Marine Park Golf Course

An otherwise solid day of golf was completely ruined by the attitude of the starter. We stopped by the pro shop ahead of our tee time, and the starter was finishing up talking to the pro shop cashier. The starter got our names while we were there and said we were good to meet up with the other two we were paired with who were at the box already. We wrapped up, and he went out to his little post outside. Fast forward literally 3 minutes, and we’re walking by him and wave and he starts shouting at us. Said “HELLO” aggressively probably 5 or 6 times because we figured he was talking to someone else. We turned around to ask if he was talking to us, and he said, “Hello, yes, I’m the starter, nice to meet you. Has either of you ever played golf before?” We’re beyond confused at this point, so he says we can’t just “waltz on by” without checking in. We told him we talked to him less than 5 minutes ago, and he said we’re good to meet our pair. He told us he talks to people all day but to go ahead and try not to hold up the course too much. Mind you, there is nobody on this course because it’s December.

I will never come back to this course. There are enough other courses nearby that won’t charge as much and will have way better customer service (which isn’t a high bar). This guy shouldn’t be within a 50-yard radius of people, let alone speaking to them for his job. Needs to find a new line of work for his sake. Can’t imagine how miserable of a life that is.

Outside of him, the 2 people we were paired with were great. The pace of play was solid since it was in the thirties. The course is in kind of rough shape, but that’s to be somewhat expected this time of year. However, there are multiple areas with massive dirt mounds at the moment, and the course is riddled with goose poop. Greens and tee boxes are in pretty good shape, though.

Lastly, for reference for the course, this was the morning of 12/10/22. Didn’t catch his name, but he was taller and had the most ridiculous yellow scarf(?)/neckwear I’ve ever seen.

Course is almost unfair when it’s 15mph winds. Tons of geese crap everywhere. It’s links and you can find your ball 99% time

This course is a really nice course for a muni! Greens are always a challenge and in great condition. Course plays difficult when the winds pick up. Great day out with friends.

The course had a movie set being built that affected hole 10,15 and 18 and will be in effect until Nov. 23rd. So hole 10 was a par 5, now short par 3, hole 15 a par 4 now a long par 3, and hole 18 a par 5 now a short par 5

One of the best courses in NYC. Currently doing construction, okay here when they finish.

The course is under construction which made them cut over 3 holes in half and made the place a mess not to mention punched greens for some reason was still $80 to play there even the parts of the course not under construction were in HORRIBLE condition compete dump would never play there again

Played the day without losing a ball. Starter was real nice and the course is open layout… players here very respectful so much so I didn’t lose a single ball. Will def come here again often (looks like they aerated the greens 2 weeks ago so almost fully healed but not quite).

Links style… very nice course layout.. friendly staff, friendly golfers…. Downside: lots of geese crap in certain sections and traffic going home is always bad form anywhere in brooklyn… def want to play again
