Great time , great course
Loved to course and the challenges of the length had to use all my clubs
Ireland without he baggage
My first time venturing down to Brooklyn to play this course, and what a surprise. It’s an Irish links course, except without the rain and wind. A real pleasure to play and walk.. Nothing fancy in the layout. Some bunkers are very stony and need new sand, but the greens are in country-club condition. Firm and true. I’ll be back!
2nd time playing
Course in good condition tee to green slow play caused by inconsiderate golfers ranger could have been more aggressive in speeding play IMO
Power carts need to be replaced
Marine Park Better Course
If it wasn't for the distance from Queens I would forego playing at Clearview GC and that stinking Split Rock/Pelham in the Bronx I give Marine Park better rating than Douglaston GC and Forest Park in Queens I would recommend this course to anyone. There's only 2 holes that I'm not crazy about at Marine but otherwise it's a great course. overall.
Great course, great staff, relaxing round of golfing
Best NYC muni course but awful pace of play
Marine Park’s conditions and course grooming have improved dramatically over the past few years. It is by far my favorite NYC municipal course and the linksy design is never sore on the eyes.
The pace of play, however, is absolutely horrid (as is the case at most public course said in NYC). Most weekend rounds take five hours minimum, with five and a half being the typical. A round of golf shouldn’t be a seven hour (or more) ordeal. Get here first thing in the morning (and pay the overpriced green fees) if you want to get out of there in four hours or less.
First time at Marine Park
Have lived in NYC for 4 years, but this is my first experience at Marine Park. I was impressed with practice facilities, although was disappointed to find that you cannot use woods on the range.
I read multiple course reviews discussing pace of play, unfortunately they held true. I had a morning tee time - finally able to tee off about 20-mins past tee time. Needed to wait on every hole at the tee, as well as for approach shots. There were times where there were up to 3 groups on the tee. Round took over 5.5 hours.
The course was in great shape. Did enjoy the course layout overall.
Was not impressed with the pro shop or pro shop staff. Staff was not very welcoming when I got to course, nor were they welcoming in the afternoon after the round when browsing and listening to them tend to other customers.
Overall, this is a course I will likely return to. It has good practice facilities and a good layout. Will just need to be prepared for long, slow moving round.
