Heatherwood Golf Club
About
Heatherwood Golf Club is the sister course to the Pine Hills Country Club, which is a 30-minute drive away in Manorville. It is a short golf course at a little over 4,000 yards but the layout offers excellent short game practice. It is also a good test of your iron play. There are no par 5s but the golf course has an interesting variety of reachable par 4s and challenging par 3s. Mature trees are abundant throughout the course, specifically concentrated along the fairways. One of the most unique holes is the 11th, which features an optical illusion that causes players to line up in a way that makes their balls go to the right. The trick is to adjust your stance slightly left but even if you are still off the green is mercifully large and forgiving.

Best executive course I've played
6:45 tee time on a Saturday, arrived as a single and got paired up. Although there is only 1 challenging green, they are all kept in unbelievable condition. greens started really fast and slowed down as the temp rose throughout the morning. the group ahead of us were playing slightly slow and having trouble finding their balls, probably could have cut 20 minutes off of our round but overall I really enjoyed the round. I would advise being conservative off the tees for the par 4's as they are all easily reachable in 2 so long as your tee shot stays out of the trees. also this course provides a lot of opportunity to test your draws and fades without being all that punishing. overall a great course for the value, super impressed with the practice green as well.
best executive course on Long Island
I recommend this course. It is well kept and the staff is excellent.Great course for my wife and I to play together on.
The best staff. The best maintenance crew. The best 19th hole
The staff in the pro shop and the starters outside are the most friendliest, professional and courteous people I've ever met, ESPECIALLY the new female employee Elaine. They all constantly go out of their way to make my round enjoyable. The course is in impeccable shape thanks to the best groundskeepers on long island. The restaurant food is excellent and the service is beyond great!
Whether your golfing by yourself or hosting a major event you can always count on a perfect day at heatherwood!
Good par 3 course
This course is kept in good shape, is a good par 3 course and is very affordable. It also lets you play 18 in just under 4 hours.
A new staff member
I've been playing and enjoying this course for about 20 years. The course is local, well maintained, and does not require a full day's time. Until this last round, I've always found the staff to be very friendly, courteous and helpful. There was a new woman at the desk of the pro shop. At the time, I did not believe that there was any type of problem. I just wanted to take a cart and load up my gear. I could not find the starter so I went into the shop to ask permission to take a cart. I was informed that I would have to check in first, so I did. Upon retuning to the first tee, the starter informed me that the woman in the pro shop had complained to him about my poor attitude with her. I was shocked as I was not aware of any conflict. I did offer my apologies to the starter. I find it strange that after 20 friendly years, I would have this problem.
Great short game tune-up.
At 4009 yds from the tips its just 65% of a full course but it was painfully slow at just over 5 hrs to do 18 holes-Yes it was a holiday weekend but still they just may by overbooking just a tad!! We had 3 groups waiting to tee off on the first 7 holes, then 2 the rest of the way. On the plus side the fairways and greens were in very good shape, especially considering the extreme amount of play. Staff was accomadating. For people who don't normally play there you really need a roadmap to find the next hole-as there are no arrows pointing you to the next hole, and since the holes are fairly close together its a chore to see the next tee box. So if you want a short game tune-up or are stuck for a last minute place to play then I may recommend it but have plenty of time on your hands. Also no water available on course so bring your own or pay highprices at snackstand which you drive past 3-4 times during the round.
Great course to work on short game
Fun course to play. If you want to practice your short game, this is the place.
very nice greens
course is very well maintained staff is very friendly pace of play good overall great course for a par 60
Heatherwood
staff friendly, course was very manageable, mostly par 3's and some 4's. Would go back. Because of the shorter holes, was able to work on what I needed to without worrying about obstacles, greet place to practice the fairway woods and get better. Food was good also . Only issue, was tough to find the pro shop checkin, it's in the back, hardly any signs .
pace of play
we have played this course several times and have found ourselves each time behind a group who are very slow. It would help if a ranger would monitor pace of play and speed up play.Locking the gate to the parking lot is very inconvenient when you have to walk the length of the lot after playing a round of golf.
A bad day of golf is still better than a good day at work!
Great fun very friendly staff . Easy to get to and even though it's an so called executive course it is challenging and fun,
Inconsiderate
Absolutely disturbing, that they aerated the entire fairways on the 16, 17, &. 18th holes in the middle of our round!! Thoroughly upset with them will never return to this course again. How rude it was of them. We were covered in mud as well as our clubs bags and ruining our round as well as the day of golf for us.

1. There was an outing scheduled during my tee time.
2. The tee times not available after somebody books them where still being displayed as available tee times. I spent a half an hour clicking on tee times that "oops someone has just booked this tee time". Complete waste of time and very annoying.
3. The staff in the restaurant/bar and the pro shop were outstanding locals that treated us great!
Turtles have been quicker...
It was a beautiful Sunday morning, I figured I'd get out for a quick round, found a T-time at 10:03AM for Heatherwood Golf Course. PERFECT! It's right around the corner and early enough where it shouldn't be too bogged down....WRONG! The course is beautiful and ANY day on the golf course is a Great Day - but a 5 hr and 15 minute round for a par 3 course is ridiculous! I was watching this one foursome who was in front of the group in front of us (stay with me) as we were awaiting our turn to T off, they took more than 5 minutes to move 30 yards. There is a Ranger, but I've never seen him go past the 3rd hole....FRUSTRATING!
worth it
nice course, good for iron practice. good greens. great rate.
Disappointed
When I booked the outing through golf now it's specifically listed a cart in the reservation. Upon arriving I was told I had to walk the course because there was a "glitch in the system".
nice course but pretty slow
Went out at 2:30 on Memorial day as a twosome and unfortunately were stuck behind a few very slow foursomes.
Although the course is an executive course (par 60), the holes are somewhat challenging and enjoyable.
Diamond in the rough....
.....Is the best way to explain Heatherwood. One of my personal fave course to play when I want to squeeze in a quick round or Twilight. Short course that tests all your irons and hybrids. It is always in good condition. The tee boxes are okay but thats what you have to expect from a short course where everyone is always teeing off low. The green fees are always fair or a steal! I have played this course around 3:30pm for about $24. I have already played it 3-4 times this year and prob will 3-4 more times. Its my mid week go-to.
