Heatherwood Golf Club
About
Heatherwood Golf Club is the sister course to the Pine Hills Country Club, which is a 30-minute drive away in Manorville. It is a short golf course at a little over 4,000 yards but the layout offers excellent short game practice. It is also a good test of your iron play. There are no par 5s but the golf course has an interesting variety of reachable par 4s and challenging par 3s. Mature trees are abundant throughout the course, specifically concentrated along the fairways. One of the most unique holes is the 11th, which features an optical illusion that causes players to line up in a way that makes their balls go to the right. The trick is to adjust your stance slightly left but even if you are still off the green is mercifully large and forgiving.

Course is short and nicely maintained. Great for beginners and intermediates.
Course well kept. Many short holes (par 3). Can be slow due to Womens Club outtings, novices, etc. 18 hole par 60 course.
great for me just to have fun
most courses are to big for me. Taking the fun out of it for a beginer
Excellent course and friendly staff
Great golfing experience. The course was in great condition and the staff was friendly and courteous. Short course, but challenging.
Solid course for the novice to intermediate golfer
Although there was no par 5s which are my favorite hole to play, the course was maintained and had a few challenges. I would definitely recommend it and will most likely play there again of I find a good enough price on golfnow.col again lol
SLOW SLOW SLOW
Many par 3s. Narrow fairways. A 5 some in front of us and no place to go with a 4some ahead of them. Not sure if I will go back. 3 groups waiting together on several holes. We waited on almost every hole. It was painful. No ranger or person to help speed play.
Great Practice!
This is a great course to work on your targeted shots- placing it right on the green every time when it counts. We had alot of fun making it a game to drop it right near the pin.
GOOD EXECUTIVE COURSE, WELL MAINTAINED, PLAY WAS A LITTLE SLOW BUT IT WAS MID-DAY.
GOOD COURSE IF YOU HAVE A MIXTURE OF PLAYER ABILITIES.
Better players can play from the tips with the beginner from whites.
overall good shape, play was slow but expected since played mid day.
Good change of pace course and excellent value.
The course is a great executive course.
Heatherwood is a beautiful course to work on your iron play. We played in 2hours and 45 minutes but that was due to the thunderstorms. The drawback to the course is that the play is
usually very slow with a lot of seniors and beginners on the couse
Good value & enjoyable
For an executive course it has some challenging features, but
never too difficult. Great for practicing short game. Good value
for 18 holes and fairly well maintained.
fair course
this is a great course if u r not a big hitter.greens are excellent.you can play this course in under 4 hrs mostly par 3s and short par 4s
This course is poorly managed!
The course is kept in beautiful condition! However, it is poorly managed! Upon arrival for our 4:03pm , there was no starter and no carts left. We managed to get a golf cart and were waiting behind a group figuring as adults we would figure it out! Many people were waiting for direction.... The starter finally showed up 15 minutes later and was very rude to us.... stating "WE COULD NOT JUST HELP OURSELVES! WE WERE TO CHECK IN WITH HIM" !!! The play time continued very very slow having 2-3 groups waiting on a tee box at a time. Never saw a Ranger to keep things moving. It seems that they just kept booking tee times to make the money knowing people would give up and leave after paying and not finishing because of darkness or slowness of play. Which did happen! It took us over 5 hours to play a course that should only take 3 1/2 to 4 hours to play.
I have played here many times and always have the same complaints.....Very disappointed in the way its managed! However, the greenskeeper should be commended !
Very Nice but a bit slow moving
I gave this course 4 stars because for an executive course it was quite nice and well maintained. HOWEVER, it seems this place attracts a lot of beginners and therefore played annoyingly slow. This is a par 60 course and all the groups within my view were shooting well over double that (no exaggeration). This was my first and only time there so I can't say if this is always the case. I will say that if the management is aware that a lot of beginners play there they should either space the groups out better or try to keep things moving faster. Great par 3 practice course, nice variety of holes.
Great course, clean and well maintained
Very nice coarse. It is well maintained. The greens were smooth and great sand traps
Great deal. Fun time
Friendly staff. Well maintained. Great time. Would definitely recommend
Good local course
My 16 year old son and I play this course several times a year. We like it. It is a great local short coarse.
This course took me by surprise at how well maintained it is!
The only unfortunate thing of the day was an outing that seemed to be lingering, somewhat backing up people on their first tee shot. Once we teed off, things flowed smoothly.
I was very impressed with the condition of the course, pristine...no, but very well maintained. Thank you for a great day.
Fine Executive Course
This one of the best executive courses in the area. It is very well maintained for the volume of play that it receives. The greens were generally in fine shape, although they frequently exhibited the ever present pitch marks, which less considerate golfers had neglected to repair, and the fairways, while in good condition had many divots, which were in need of fixing. The afore mentioned "blemishes"are not to be considered as a negative comment on the course, but rather on the players who seem to forget that they have an obligation to respect the course, not just, play on it.
That being said, my wife and I loved the course, and enjoy playing it whenever we return to LI. What is most interesting about Heatherwood, is the use of land to create rolling fairways and the positioning of greens. This feature is particularly in evidence on the fifth, eight, thirteenth, fourteenth, and sixteenth holes. Two par three's, that are particularly interesting for their view, are the ninth and fifteenth holes.
All things considered, Heatherwood is worth the trip.
A course in good condition that challenges all levels.
This course is always in good condition. The pace of play was great considering that many beginners play it. It is mostly par threes which can slow play.
I have recommended this course to friends.
Great executive course.
Great executive course. Sometimes pace of play can be a little slow. Course is kept in excellent condition. Staff very friendly and accommodating. It's an added bonus that they offer one free alcoholic drink after your round - a great touch. The food in the restaurant is also great. I would highly recommend this course.
Very enjoyable little golf course. Nicely maintained.
Great par 3's and the few par 4's per side make this a nice little challenge.
