Beautiful long distance views from much of the course. Photo submitted by TatayG on 05/09/2018
Toughest on West Side of Rochester, NY
We have played here several times, usually earlier in season when wetter/softer. Local droughts have been tough on courses, and some grass stress is evident. #1 hole positions (of 4) for all 18 holes seemed to be the toughest. Huge teens, good conditions.
It was okay...not in a rush to go back.
Grew up playing the par 3 that used to be next doors and the championship course when it was new. Hadn’t played here in about 3 years but had heard conditions improved. Overall the course was in great shape. Tee time was at 7:40am, the last group to go as there was a tournament at noon going out. The Pro made it very clear we had to “hustle” and be back no later than noon...yeah no problem. He also pushed us off hole 10. We tee’d off by 7:22....no warm ups....again being advised to “hustle”. Course played nice, was challenging for the first 3 holes as we warmed up. My biggest complaint and the reason I most likely will not play again unless I know it’s been fixed...the bunkers. Some were in great shape. However, twice I hit out where there were rocks throughout and one time it left my wedge with a nice gouge mark in the middle from a rock. Don’t expect that from a “champion” course. I play a lot of courses on Long Island and NJ that are link style and never have had that issue with the bunkers. Considered bringing this to the attention of the pro, but figured it wouldn’t matter.
Overall, the course is decent, but I’m not rushing to play again.
Largest greens in the Rochester area
Course conditions and maintenance clearly affected by Covid-19 down time. No rakes, but bunker sand excellent. Greens, as usual, fast and excellent: would fit at any private course. 2-3 club wind and 90 degree temps affected pace of play. They have a pin scheme, could have used more central locations today! We play here 2-3 times a year, 40 minute drive and worth it.
Very Disappointing
I cannot believe people have said this course is in good shape. It’s in horrible condition. I played here this April and the course was wet but given how early it was in the season that’s expected. It blows my mind that this course maintains over 4 stars but doesn’t maintain their fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, or greens. The 11th hole green had legitimate dirt as the fringe with dirt spots all over the green. For a course with so much potential it’s sad to see how poorly kept it’s been.
This is a unique and fun course layout. Fairways, tees, and greens are always in solid shape.
Great day with friends
Unique design, in great shape. Full golf course due to holiday weekend but play moved steadily along. About 4 hours. With good company, this course is a lot of fun with plenty of challenges for a range of players. (We shot 75, 87, and 99–give or take). Staff and service are great, especially with all the additional health protocols. Always really enjoy playing here.
Staff was great good test of ur skills some long holes even from whites while having some short holes too. Must hit it straight. Greens were legit.
Great day
Course was in good but not great shape. Would have liked to see a little more water on the greens.
Great course, but
Great course, but there needs to be some more direction to next hole and because of more than a few blind shots, arrows would be nice. But it is a challenging and wonderful course. I would not recommend it for beginners!
Course is in good shape - long rough
First time golfing this year. Course was in good shape and the rough was in summer length plus a few areas where they were letting it grow in. Some of the sand has been replaced since the last time I played and it was nice to hit out of (thankfully was only in one bunker). My friend did pull out of one bunker since there were no rakes and the surface was pretty rough - to be expected). The only issue that we ran into was the pace of play on the back nine. The foursome in front of us was very slow and with no ranger around, we could not play through although we drove up to a couple tees while they were teeing off. I believe that they finished almost two holes out of position. The weather was beautiful so all in all, it was a good day on the course.
Difficult layout, especially if you do not know it, but overall great course and conditions.
4-5 Star Golf Course
Course is in excellent condition challenging, an wonderful views
Terrific course!
Early season and Corona restrictions in place but Tim very helpful and course in solid shape!
Great to get outside and pkay!!
For April the golf course was in really good shape. Greens have already been punched and sanded yet drooled well. Excellent variety of holes and used every club in my bag, course was walking only yet pace of play remained steady as we played a mid afternoon round in 4:05. The golf professional was very personable and informative( cough cough secuity). Can't wait to play again later this season when all is running!
