The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course
About
For golfers looking for a great Maui experience, your destination is The Dunes at Maui Lani.
Golf's most respected journalists agree: The Dunes is a must-play. Golf magazine named it among the top 35 best new golf courses in America, while Golf Digest called it one of the five "Best Kept Secret Golf Courses in America."
Designed by Robin Nelson, The Dunes at Maui Lani is immaculately maintained and brilliantly laid out. It is a tribute to the great links courses of Ireland that more than one golf writer has described as a "British Open course on Maui." Stunning dunes dot the terrain at every corner, challenging the golfer at every hole.
In addition to 18 holes of championship golf, The Dunes offers the only lighted practice range in central Maui, with grass tees, fairway and green-side bunkers and a pitching and putting green, plus an air-conditioned pavilion. Also, when not on the golf course, golfers can enjoy a four-star meal at Cafe O'Lei at The Dunes.

10th Tee Photo submitted by bildes83 on 10/29/2012
Couse is in great condition, beware of the blind shots
I went out early morning and had the course to myself. The Dunes was a nice suprise - it's in great condition from tee to green, at half the price of the resort courses.
No GPS - the course has several blind tee shots, so a yardage book would have come in handy. Tough to score well here if it's the 1st time playing here. The Dunes is located 10 minutes from OGG, so it's a great place to play before leaving Maui.
Course is very playable and fun
Multiple tees for ladies rather than just short lengths. Wide fairways on the front nine and some challenging holes on the back nine. Course was in good condition and pin placements were in some great places! Course was well marked and easy to get around-very helpful for the first time player.
The staff was very helpful and nice- we had a very enjoyable day.
Hardest two holes on the island
Good golf course that has the two most challenging holes on Maui. #10 is a long downhill par four that requires a long well placed drive and another long iron or fairway wood just to have a chance at par. #11 is not as long but just as far back up the hill. Great two hole combination. Good value and just as challenging as some of the other much pricier course on Maui.
Nice course
I really enjoyed this course. Interesting holes with women friendly tee boxes. Can be windy. This is not a high end course,i.e. no GPS, gas carts w/ no windshield but the prettiness of the course makes up for that. A nice surprise for a lesser amount of money. Nice mountain views. Sandwiches only $5! A much more interesting course than Kaanapali Kai which I played the day before.
Back 9 more challenging; entire course enjoyable.
We play this course every time we come to Maui. The course is always in good shape. Several holes with blind shots and no warning. The wind can make course very challenging. Staff are super friendly. The cafe is also very good.
Course is a joke
Terrible shape(greens). No gps, blind shots everywhere. Waitress in restaurant in morning very, very bad. Sand traps in horrible condition."..........9th hole finishes as far as possible from club house and we see beverage cart as we walk off from hole 18, which 50 yards from club house.
Enjoyed it very much
Love the course and staff, had a very good time, some holes were pretty easy, but most are very difficult
Overall I loved it, very nice public course as good as most private ones,
Unique course for Maui and good value.
Truly a unique course on Maui - links style and very challenging. Played midweek at about 12:30 and got around in just under 3 1/2 hours. Very good value and looking forward to playing it again.
Well maintained
Awesome! Very challenging course, staff was terrific, Be nice if they gave golfers a course map. Great value!
This course has varying terrain.
This is a tough course especially in the wind and there are a lot of blind shots. The hole picture on the tee box markers is faded out so you can only tell which way the dog leg is. They didn't give you any kind of course guide. It was worth the golf now rate and the Nike rental clubs were in good shape.
Challenging and enjoyable
Lots of holes with blind shots and fast greens...definitely a challenge for any golfer.
This course has great challenging holes !!!!
This course was a winner wow!!! enjoyed the play will return next year nice course had a ball!!!!
Really tough
I just plain found this course a little over the top. You could crack one down the middle and come up with a really tilted lie. It seemed all the greens had a sand moat surrounding them. The greens were in good shape but the wind, uneven lies, and over bunkered greens kind of took the fun out of this
Decent rate for Maui, some greens could have been in better shape but a very good time
Staff (starter and Amy on beverage cart) were very friendly. The woman in pro shop not as much...
Decent course with some challenging holes given the wind and playing all uphill. Overall, in decent shape with some greens needing a little more attention.
The rate of $54 was very good compared to most almost all other options in Maui. Played in under 3 hours with two balls since no one was on the course. It's a great option for a round before you catch your flight back to the mainland.
Easy, but a fun course to play!
Many of the holes were wide open, but there were a lot of bunkers. The elevation changes on many of the holes were really cool to play. The wind was in my face many of the holes on the front nine, but it was at my back on many of the holes on the back nine. The greens rolled pretty true to what I've played in Washington state. The staff who worked there were very friendly to me. For the money, compared to other Maui courses, this is a great one to play. I figured that's because you weren't paying for the scenery.
Very nice
Got a great deal on golf now at $59 and it was worth every penny. That was a twilight rate and it was windy, but we still enjoyed it very much. In addition the course was pretty much empty, yet in very good condition. We also had an excellent dinner at their restaurant afterwards. It really is a Maui hidden gem.
Had a great time playing this course!
The course was in great shape and, was an exceptional value. If your looking to play a fun course without paying resort prices this is your course.
Links golf on Maui
This course provides a unique golfing experience for Maui. It feels like a links course in paradise; natural sand dunes, narrow ondulating fairways that make that your ball is hardly ever on an even plain and greens that require carefull reading. Taking into consideration that it's likely to catch a few drops of rain on Maui, it's definitely Scotland in the tropics. The golf club is nothing fancy, but we paid only $50 and that's really cheap. I woud recommend this course even for the normal $112 rate. That's still a bargain in Hawaii greenfee terms. If you love golf, go there. If you just want to be pampered, pay 100 bucks more and go somewhere else.
Afternoon golf is challenging in Maui, due to the wind.
But, this course is suited to tough wind, as it has a distinct links look and feel. Nicely maintained, but not crazy fast greens. One of the better layouts n Maui, and for the cost of green fees, the best value.
Very good course for the money. Staff make the experiece great.
Some greens need work but; seems to be the same problem at other courses. Course is challenging; however, if the wind is blowing your in for a long day. One to two clubs difference every hole.
