The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course

The Dunes at Maui Lani is a great golf course in excellent condition. But it’s too difficult for the average 25 ~ 30 handicap golfer, due to many blind shots, ravines, and long, wild out of bounds on both sides of a narrow rough on many holes. The greens are also very undulated & difficult compared with many other golf courses. Golfers who shoot in the low 90’s will struggle to break 100 at The Dunes, and typically will lose 8~ 10 balls on a round! Not for the occasional or vacation golfer –beware!!

Pace of play was slow. Water on course scarce. Grab your snacks, beverages before you tee off! Challenging course layout. Will return.

Tough layout with a lot of elevation changes and rolling dunes. Tough to get a flat lie. Make sure you bring food and water. No beverage cart or ability to get food after 9 holes. Greens are slow. Public course and it shows but good value for the money. Quite a few blind tee shots and it would help to have a range finder. Gas powered carts are old.

Natural setting course design is good.

Course was great as usual.

Only thing missing was an on course refreshment cart.

Was a great day to stop and play on way to airport for late overnight flight home. Challenging in that you don’t see a lot of the greens - and then the greens can have undulations you don’t know about! Makes for interesting ball locations when you get to the green. We had a great time, was my first time playing this course however my husband has played a few times.

Got a smoking deal on Golf Now and was expecting “average / ok” course. I don’t know how it is all the time, but at 8:30 we only had a twosome in front of us and we got done in 3 1/2 hours (AWESOME).

AND, the course was in great condition (except for the sand traps, of which many were kinda muddy).

Overall, nice elevation change, good views oacross the valley of Haleakala, and challenging with several different trees to choose from.

Very nice course. Greens and fairways well tended. Interesting layout which adds to the pleasure of play. We got out right after a tournament so we were able to play fast so I’m not sure of a normal pace of play. I will definitely come back.

The was our first time playing The Dunes and we will definitely play it again. It was very challenging from the Green tees especially with the wind. One of the best values on the island.
