Crieff Golf Club - Ferntower Course

About
The Ferntower Course is the 18-hole championship layout at Crieff Golf Club, which has been voted 29th best golfing facility in the UK by the readers of Golf World magazine. Ferntower is built on gently sloping parkland, with views over the Strathearn Valley that dramatically improve and unfold as the round progresses. With mostly wide fairways and the rough cut short enough to avoid prolonged ball searching, Ferntower appeals to all categories of handicapper. The par-71 golf course starts with a par-3 hole, a change from the norm. Although the opening hole measures 163 yards, it's all uphill, and there are three par 5s, among the remaining holes on the front nine.

A real pleasure to play the course
Crieff Ferntower is a lovely course, well maintained and having the benefit of a very friendly Pro. We teed off slightly earlier than booked as the Pro advised there was no-one in front. It was an exceptionally hot day but the course played well and the greens were true. Very friendly people in the bar and we had a very tasty dinner in the clubhouse after golf. We’ll be back!
Ferntower
Inave played creiff ferntower course many tomes and always enjoy the corse it has some amazkng holes I played yesterday (25th September) with 3 friends who also spoke highly about the course hope to return soon
Excellent course
I was surprised how nice this course was. Wanted to play a course in the area and found the reviews for Crieff pretty good. The day was beautiful. The pro shop guy told me it would be a slow round as a single. I asked what, like 4.5 to 5 hours? He said, “this is Scotland, like 3.5”. Hooked up with a couple locals, played in 3.5 hours. The greens were excellent. The walk was fantastic. A great experience overall.
Crieff Ferntower
Excellent course, well maintained, friendly staff in the Pro shop.
Greens, tees and fairways in excellent condition.
Must play course
4 of us played this course and enjoyed it thoroughly. Well laid out with plenty of room for wayward shots as well, easy walking & quite a few on gentle slopes. Greens were excellent ( all previous visits the same too) We had a very competitive game which finished all square & we rounded off a great day with an excellent meal & a pint each in the splendid clubhouse. Thanks to all the staff as well- well worth the money & we hope to return again someday.
Great course.
Course was in very good condition, will definitely return. Played about 6 courses in the region while working up here & this is my favourite so far.
Well worth a visit
Course was in excellent condition despite playing in early April. Course layout was good and fairly forgiving. Staff were very welcoming both in the pro shop and the clubhouse. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
Great Course
Really enjoyed the course, very welcoming club, we. Will be back in the summer
Great Round at Crief

my golf
I was out in a fourball. We enjoyed the experience very much. The course was quite demanding but fair. We would definitely play again.
Great course with fast greens
Only paid 15 pounds to play this course. Great course, nice layout and greens are very nice with good speed.
Crieff Ferntower
Played at the start of November course in excellent condition given the time of year and the terrible weather we have been having. A long course but with little difficulties, rough very forgiving allowing a good pace of play. Varied and interesting hole layout, particularly on the back 9 holes. If golf not good scenery certainly is. The golf pro extremely well coming and helpful.
Excellent clubhouse facilities. Staff extremely pleasant and very good catering. A superb course to play with great facilities and very friendly staff an excellent place for a days golfing
Great condition for a wet summer
We're already talking about going back, great condition very reasonably priced and good facility's. Definitely recommend
Challenging round of golf
Enjoyed every minute, the greens were in top condition as was the fairways, will go back.
Best course I've played this year
So this was my 20th course I've played in Scotland this year and I can honestly say it's the best one yet.
I was recommended by a friend who played it years ago and as I was in the area I thought i'd give it a go. Can't complain at all, fairways in excellent condition, greens were immaculate with perfect smooth roll, even I could putt on them.
There were three down pours during my round and even that didn't take away from my enjoyment, greens held up really well and apart from being slightly slower which you'd expect after some rain you wouldn't really know it had poured down. This is testament to the green keeping staff.
Tricky middle stint for three/four holes which were long especially into a wind and for a mid-high handicapper like myself you'd struggle for par. Nice finish were you can pick up strokes though.
Didn't use the clubhouse but pro shop was good, well stocked with everything you'd need and the changing rooms were nice too. Practice facilities to hand also meaning everything in one place.
A great parkland course.
I played with my partner on a warm sunny day. Neither of us played particularly well but we both enjoyed the game. We played late in the day at a reduced rate and it was excellent value. The greens were some of the best we saw during our holiday in Scotland.
We didn't use the off course facilities, so can't make any comment.
