Cally Palace Hotel

My party enjoyed the course very much, bit of hidden gem. We took the hot deal at £14.99 each it was well worth it

Great value hot deal on a nice course- a steal compared to some of ten visitor fees in Dumfries. Some areas of GUR and couple greens not perfect but perfectly playable (3,5-4 out of 5). Otherwise lovely rolling parkland. Some shortish par 4s with scoring opportunities mixed with some very tricky par 5s, particularly down to the lake on the back 9. Lovely hotel clubhouse with good food and friendly staff.

First off we really love this course, the grounds, layout and walk round are really good and in our view second to none. Price was good value. Whilst recognising just coming out of winter months the course was just not up to scratch and not a patch on previous owners. Most of the fairways had not been cut and it was like playing on the back field. The fairways that had been cut had lots of grass cuttings on them. Bunkers need some sand. We did get the impression there might be work ongoing e.g. some tress cut down and drainage ditches cleared. We hope this is the start of a revamp of what was a treasure of a course. Will visit again in a few months and hopefully it will be a vast change.

Super track, some great signature holes, 2 par 5s in particular.

Very wet & boggy in places.

An interesting course that has a few challenging holes, The course is gently undulating with quite a few long walks between holes. Greens were ok but the fairways were covered in grass cuttings which somewhat spoiled the overall course condition.

We enjoyed our round at Cally Palace and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates peace and quiet and enjoys a leisurely round

Only one mad enough to go out as it was torrential rain on most of the day. Greens held up to the deluge until the last few holes where they were waterlogged. Had a bearing on green speed, but surfaces were nice and true, just a little slow. Everything else on the course in excellent condition.

Did not see facilities as had to drive straight on afterwards, but the Cally Palace Hotel looks amazing. Staff at reception, very friendly and helpful.

This is a really great course. The setting is perfect. The layout works really well. New owners are in place and ground staff are visible and working hard. This said there is still some work to get to its former excellent condition. The fairways had been mowed but left too long as grass clippings all over the place. This said greens and bunkers were just perfect. Would recommend and will be playing again.

This is one of our favourite courses. A great layout with some great views etc. The hotel and course was for sale when we played and was just going through. I suspect they had scaled down on the green staff and costs as the bunkers had weeds in them and lack of sand. The course fairways were not as cut and tidy as usual. Hopefully the new owners will address this. That said we still very much enjoyed the course and would recommend

Greens weren’t so fast and the surface was unpredictable. However great scenery and hardly anyone playing it.

First time on this very spectacular golf course. Well laid out and well maintained.

First time playing here after hearing it was decent. Played it and thought it was hot very well maintained! Greens were very poor

Buy a course planner. Positioning is important on dogleg holes.

The course has never let me down before but the greens were poor and some of the fairways were uncut. It’s a shame really, great wee course but lacking a lot of TLC

A wide range of holes and terrain awaits you at Cally Palace. Really good greens too. Amazingly beautiful if you like trees !
