Great layout but course needs some work
The layout of course is great and somewhat challenging, especially the first several holes. But the tee boxes are pretty beat up with dead grass. And the greens are slower than the practice green and not consistent.
Lost Marsh
I played Lost Marsh on 9/2/22. It’s been over five years since I’ve last played here, and I have to say the course is in excellent shape. The greens rolled true and the whole course was perfect. For those who have played here before and are well aware; if you can get past the first five holes in decent shape you will be on your way to a good round of golf. I was not so lucky. Lost Marsh is a challenge and I personally believe the slope rating does not accurately reflect the toughness of this course. There were some tee boxes that were aerated, but that didn’t bother me, it’s part of yearly maintenance. I did read a lot of negative reviews beforehand about the staff. I do have to say on the day we played all staff were friendly and professional. I can’t wait to come back. I would also highly recommend grabbing something to eat upstairs after your round of golf. The food was delicious.
Excellent Course
Beautiful Course. Amazing staff. Bring your course management skills!
Great layout but needs some work
The course is very well designed and somewhat challenging, especially the first 4 holes. the condition of the teeing ground for some holes is really bad for example hole #5. The green speed is a bit slow and not consistent. Hopefully some maintenance work can be done to keep the course in good shape.
They must be preparing for a US Open
There are quite a few quirky holes out here but we knew about them and still decided to make the drive to play. The big problem is/was the height of the rough. Out of control. Our threesome found more than a dozen balls looking for ours. No need for this. All it does is slow-down the pace of play looking for errant shots. Mentioned it to the pro shop guy afterward and he could give a care. All of the water and tricked-up holes makes this place difficult enough….they don’t need this rough issue.
Great Layout
Awesome course but greens really need to either hand players a divot repair tool or have staff come out to repair them
Staff was rude, course quality is OK
If you are looking for a fun and relaxing round with some friends, this is not the place to go. The course itself was fine. Good/clean amenities. However, the staff was rude for no reason and that set a negative tone for the round. Additionally, the beverage cart person even inspected our cooler for outside beverages (all we had was ice and beers purchased at the course) on the first hole. It was over the top and a awkward way to start the round.
Disappointed
Played 18 on 8/7. Pouring rain all day, visible lightning and thunder all day. Course was flooded, could barely play most shots. Round should have been called for safety but also due to course conditions. A bit disappointed in the usually great LM staff and course.
Target golf
Course was in great shape. Long rough, reasonably quick greens. Fairways and boxes in good shape. Not a big fan of the layout. After playing once, might hit driver 2-3 times at most. Lots of water and natural areas. Locals must know. Found about 15 golf balls looking for ours and no high end balls to be found. Between the rough, water, and overgrown areas I was pretty much done looking for golf balls by 14. Decent layout with a few too many tricked up holes for my taste. Great price for the shape of the course. Just get your hybrids sharp before you go
