South Shore Golf Club was formerly a private nine-hole course but now it is part of the Chicago Park District Golf collection, which features five other courses. Although it is seemingly out of the way, tucked in the southeast corner of the Chicago metro area, it is one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the area. Through the stands of mature trees, golfers can catch glimpses of Lake Michigan. The carefully preserved landscape has earned the golf course recognition as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The par-33 layout features tree-lined fairways and small greens. It's a golf course that requires accuracy but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. South Shore Golf Club is a great course if you're looking to get some short game practice or squeeze in a quick round.

Course is still under repair from renovation. Some Areas are roped off.
Despite the rain storms and course upgrade that are roped off, the course is still a jewel in the community.
South Shore Country Club
A true 1906 dCountry Club, long executive course. It is a hoot to play, sometimes busy but they always seem to get me out. Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to take a JPGA caddy, and we had a hoot.
Continuous Improvement
A snack/beverage cart driving around would be nice. The signs at each hole need to be bigger and more visible. People dont usually know where the next hole is. Hole 6 had a lot of flowers on the green. Also there were a lot of buts on the course.
Steadily improving
This was my first time playing South Shore GC in a couple of years and I was pleasantly surprised. The Park District improved the cart paths by installing gravel (rather than rutted dirt tracks), and has clearly invested in course conditions.

Budget Friendly, Best View of the Skyline, a Local Gem
South Shore is a great community course. It’s approachable with nine holes, a fun layout, and some of the best city views you’ll find anywhere—arguably the best in Chicago. The course has been making steady improvements, which are definitely needed and appreciated. I especially love the addition of the new chipping and putting area, as well as the welcoming new driving range. Very underwhelming
Do not expect to be able to have a cart (or push cart) available. They have about 6 for the entire course. There was about a 30 minute backup off the tee due to slow pace of play and 0 enforcement on the course.
