Lost Marsh Golf Course

For the same or less $ I'd rather golf Harborside. Staff are much , friendlier & professional. Course is always cleaner & better-kept.

Harborside also offers much-appreciated discounts to first responders.

Fair, but very challenging course. If you hit it straight 80% of the time, you have a chance to score well; if not, you’ll be in much marsh and/or water. I’ll definitely be back to play again sooner than later.

A wonderful course to enjoy the picturesque layout. Well maintained and a very friendly staff. The electric carts lock up if you stray too far off the cart pass; which is the reason I didn't give the course five stars. This course is all about planning and executing your shots, don't try and overpower it or you'll be getting a second mortgage to buy more golf balls.

Lost Marsh is a one and a half hour drive from home. Our group has played it twice this year and we hope to return again before winter sets in. It is challenging with a great view of the Chicago skyline.

Lost marsh otherwise known as lost balls is a great course. Greens are a little beat up but not too bad. Mostly due to the amount of rounds and some inconsiderate players who don’t fix their ball marks. My only real gripe about this course is the staff. For the most part everybody’s pretty chill however on the weekends they seem to get a little uppity. Pace of play was slow which is pretty expected on a nice Sunday. Nbd, but the Rangers were aggressive /rude for no real reason because there really isn’t anywhere to go.

I've been reading about lost marsh for several years now, and we finally played it. It was a really fun course and awesome layout especially being in the middle of the region. Deer live on the course which is pretty cool. The first 5 holes have lots water on them. Bring lots of golf balls. The rest of the course plays pretty difficult. Conditions were a little less than desirable. Lots of water damage in the fairways and the greens had tons of pock marks on them.

All and all a really nice course. I'd gladly play it again.

This is one of the best courses in the Chicagoland area, especially for the price. The layout of the first 5 holes is a bit tough since there is a decent amount of water so bring some extra balls. The one downside of today’s outing is that the greens are in the worst shape I have seen all year here. Please people, fix your ball marks.

The starter is excellent and very friendly. We had expressed concern about finishing 18 on a Friday afternoon and he let us go out 20 minutes early and rode with us down 18 to make sure we got every hole in. The course is fun too (especially the first 4 holes) and does not have Chicagoland prices despite being less than an hour from the city.

The course is a real challenge. Locals are known to call this lost ball Marsh due to narrow fairways and unforgiving water hazards...oh did I mention the marsh. Some municipal courses are neglected and over crowded. Because of price $50+ a round it keeps the crowds away. Beautiful greens and clubhouse. More in line with a private club.

We played a morning round this past Saturday at Lost Marsh and were really impressed with the facilities and solid course conditions. The first hole is particularly striking and as reviews all mention, the first five holes are BRUTAL if you're a mid-high handicapper. The course is super interesting and fun, but as you get into the middle holes, our foursome felt that the layout becomes shockingly unfair. There are a ton of blind shots that lead to penalty outcomes for good shots, and multiple holes in a row in which great shots in the fairway are rewarded with nearly impossible lies behind multiple overhanging trees on the fairway. Greens were tricky but in excellent shape. A few of the fairways look to be in rough shape on the edges, but overall a cool place to go not far from the city. Given the pandemic, there wasn't really a way to enjoy the amenities, but the clubhouse is beautiful and looks to be a neat spot to hangout!

It's not too far from Harborside and does a very similar thing at a much lower price. That said, Harborside's course is far more accommodating to the average golfer albeit at a price. Well worth a trip, but possibly not a trip back that soon!

This course is beautiful and challenging. Today's pace was terribly slow. 4 hours after 14. Will absolutely play again for the same rate.

Wanted to walk, they wouldn’t let us walk. Then they wouldn’t let us get our own carts (even though we were the third group off and there were TONS of carts ready to go, and we were willing to pay for them). We were trying to be cautious due to COVID and have family members who are in an at risk groups, so sharing carts with people outside my family group is not an option. Didn’t show anything on the site that said single carts aren’t allowed. Left instead of caving to policy.

Would have most likely been a multiple time customer as the course looked decent, but won’t be back again. Dumb policy and inflexible. Hope the lost greens fees and future lost greens fees were worth it for them.

Always a favorite in the Chicago area. First 4 holes are very difficult as you navigate water in every direction. Once it opens up, more opportunities to score. Be careful of the sharp doglegs and blind shots-- helps to have seen the track once or twice. Fantastic clubhouse. Highly recommend if looking for a well-maintained, challenging layout.
