The Bridges Golf Club
About
The Fred Couples Signature course is the centerpiece of the Bridges at Preston Crossing. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills that most don't associate with north Texas. Mature trees dot the lush meadows, sliced with ribbons of tall native grasses. The parkland layout has a fair amount of challenges and it is especially tough on a windy day. There are subtle but tricky contours thanks to the undulating landscape and several strategically placed bunkers lurk throughout. Water is not too much of a threat on this golf course, except for the memorable finishing hole. This beastly par 5 lays measures 645 yards and wraps around a massive water hazard. The Bridges is a local favorite because not only is it a challenging round, it is also an affordable one.

The bridge to nowhere actually leads somewhere...
It's quite a drive from Dallas up to Gunter to play The Bridges. It's worth it.
The staff is very friendly, and the place has a nice laid back vibe.
The course itself is challenging, but fun. I've only played one other Fred Couples designed course before, but saw some of the same themes. The green complexes are challenging and offer a lot of opportunity to be creative. The greens themselves have some pretty wild undulation, often offering the perfect defense to otherwise "easy" holes.
If I had any criticism it's that the par 5s on the front (especially #5) seemed a bit too friendly... although the green on #3 is pretty intense!
The course is on a wide open plot of land with few trees, but still our group found that some shots were tighter than they appeared. Your game will be tested.
Number 18 is a unique and fun end to the round. With a big decision to make off the tee box, you could either find yourself hitting driver/hybrid to get home in 2... or hitting 4i, 4i, 7i to reach. With a match on the line, it's a great risk/reward closer.
This course is open enough for just about anybody to enjoy, but brings some heat for players of all skill levels. It's worth the drive.

Excellent condition
We have played the Bridges for many years and the course has had its ups and downs. The layout has always been one of my favorites but now it’s in the condition it deserves. The staff has done a fantastic job with the fairways, bunkers, and greens. Great job!

The Bridges
Well worth the drive from the DFW area. This course is a great example of how the wind can drastically alter your game plan. The fairways are pretty open with not a lot of trees to shield the wind. A few holes have some spots under repair, but nothing that ruins the experience of the course. The Bridges' closing hole is one of my favorite in the area. Staff is very friendly and you have to love that range balls are included in your round!

Thanks so much for the great 5 star review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
Played during a 2-3 club wind. Friendly off the tee. Greens very quick which I enjoy. Some greens with extreme undulation limiting pin positions. Nice to get out of the city and tee off while looking at some cattle grazing in the nearby fields. Worth the drive from DFW to check it out.

Off the beaten path
Enjoyed the course very much. Visit Dallas area every month so I have played a number of the public course around town. Loved the links style course and facilities. Very challenging. Remote location is a slight drawback, but I would highly recommend the course for those that enjoy a different type of course. Greens were phenomenal.

Love the openness of the course
I’ve played a few courses that are nowhere as forgiving as The Bridges. While there are some spots to lose a ball or two for the most part the openness of the course makes for a good day.
A TWELVESOME???
While on the range, an employee delivered balls and apologized for the delay, which it wasn't really necessary to apologize. He stated there was a delay because they had a twelvesome go out earlier. There was no starter. Later we heard other complaints about this twelvesome clogging up things (but hey, only 9 were actually golfing, we heard). This totally jacked up the entire flow. There is never a marshal on the course. Not sure why they allow this.
I did not actually witness this twelvesome, just reporting what the employee and other golfers stated, and I figure I can trust the employee. I do know that it was slow and the group 2 ahead seems to have at least 1 entire hole gap, but no marshal on site to encourage speedy play.
Overall, it was a nice day and our group is generally chill about such things, but they could use with some on course pace of play management.
Hi, Jeffrey. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement such as pace management. As far as the twelvesome is concerned, we would never knowingly allow any group larger than a standard foursome outside of maybe a very unique one off scenario. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you for playing The Bridges Golf Club.
Great course, greens are beautiful
