Fantastic views, emaculate greens, mediocre fairways

Great deal on GolfNow. Charged me $15 for my wife to walk the course! Never had anything like that before.

The views of the ocean are awesome! The fairways are pretty dry. Challenging layout but most holes are not long. Walked the front 9 comfortably but transitioned into a cart for the back (lots of uphill holes).

Greens were in great condition. Very tough at times.

The bar had very cheap drinks and appetizers.

Service was really good.

Overall a great experience.

Convenient course to play

The course is very convenient for me to play since I live nearby. The local high school’s home course happens to play here. I was unfortunately playing at the time they were scheduled to play. Otherwise, the condition of the course is was good.

Course conditions great!

I’ve played the course many times. I’ve played either well or poorly, but it wasn’t the course conditions that were at fault. I think that Glenn Annie is a good course, but just doesn’t suit me. The weather was great and the course was in great condition.

Hidden Gem

Excellent value as Hot Deal. Discriminating between residents and non residents as far as fees charged is bad policy. The policy is implying that charging a resident a lower fee must be profitable, but why not gouge the visitor. On the day I played it looked like many other golfers were locals, and no visitors stood out. If I had to pay a higher fee for being an out of towner, I wouldn't have played here. It just rubs me the wrong way. Charge everyone the same and I'll be back.

Funky but fun

It took me awhile to begin to enjoy this course, but I now am a big fan. Holes are just long enough for many possible greens in regulation. Some are short, setting up for birdies, and the par-threes are all difficult, except for hole # 2, which gives one some confidence when played properly. The greens are in excellent shape, tee boxes too, as are the fairways. Good landing areas and troublesome rough make for enjoyable competitive play. The double dog-leg hole # 14, for example, allows the big hitters to go for the green in two, over the hill and beyond a pocket of bunkers. For the rest of us, it sets up for a relatively modest par five but requires some precision. Daytime prices have sometimes kept me away, but GolfNow often has reasonable offers, and there's always two-for-one Wednesdays.

Challenging with incredible views!

If your in town don't hesitate to play this course. Lot's of holes that will challenge even the best players. The views are off the chart amazing of the channel islands, coastline and mountains; Santa Barbara views at their best! Don't let the length fool you. Play from the back tees if you are single digit, otherwise the white tees are plenty of a challenge.

What were they thinking?

I've played hundreds of courses all over the world. From the tiniest executive to the most famous of them all and I have to say that Glen Annie is one confused and poor design and among the worst 18 holes I've played anywhere. Now it can be fun if you go out with 6 hours to spare and a whole lot of patience but the course is really a bad design. I read somewhere else that it’s like they only had room for 15 holes and they packed in an extra 3. The course seems like it was designed by committee or someone who isnt a golfer.

There are 5 or 6 holes that are just terrible. From the 1st on you experience a mix of boring and or ridiculous. Like the 3rd, a 320 yrd downhill par 4. Or the 5th, or the 7th... The 10th? By far the worst turn in all of CA and then you hit the 12th another drivable downhill par 4, that backs up 4 groups deep as everyone thinks they can hit it 290 to the green...

I wish this place was just 9 holes and a great practice facility or some little par 3 course. As it stands its 9 decent holes and 9 horrible ones and the worst driving range around, second only to SB Muni is its absurdly bad design.

Bottom line is that Glen Annie is there for the times when you just need to golf but for the most part I'd skip it and just head to the Frog Bar. You'll have a better time and wont feel as if you just paid $50+ for 9holes of decent golf and 9 of the worst you’ll ever experience.
