South Course at Highlands Ridge

About
There are two championship golf courses available at Highland Ridge, an upscale residential community that is one of central Florida's most popular golfing destinations. Both courses enjoy a beautiful tropical setting situated next to a nature conservancy and a 260-acre freshwater lake. Highlands Ridge's North Course is known for its excellent conditions and the more challenging South Course is one of the heartland's toughest layouts. The South was even voted the area's best golf course in 2012. The layout utilizes the diverse tropical terrain to create a true shot maker's layout featuring holes that range from short to long and wide-open, to narrow. The design seamlessly blends links-style bunkering into the lush landscape of meandering creeks and sparkling ponds, which come into play throughout. There are also 100-year-old oaks that line the fairways.

Unknown hazards
The greens were in bad with large areas that had no grass and very sandy . Also the fairways and ruff had not been mowed for some time and anywhere there was a low area it was unplayable if you was lucky enough to find it .We only say one other person playing and we really felt the course should have been closed due the conditions.
Great day
No frills round.. Open course in front and behind our group. Course condition very good, especially in the drought we're in. Rick was welcoming in the clubhouse upon arrival. Definately play here
Maintenance?
I played this course a few years ago and considered it one of the best in the area.
The greens are still good but the rest of the course has had zero maintenace. You can't tell thedifference between rough, fairway or t blocks. All are just weeds or sand.
Nice but ugly
It is such a scenic course with some lovely holes but the condition of every part makes it a real disappointment
Not worth the money
Fairways in very bad condition. Greens were not to bad. Course need a lot of water and TLC to make it worth the trip and price. DO NOT recommended playing it at this time.............
Great Variety
Not a typical course for Florida. A fair amount of elevation change. Very friendly staff both in the Pro Shop and Restaurant. Greens are excellent. Fairways a bit hard and dry.
Good course
I got my money value back for sure and it was worth it to travel from Tampa to play here.
Nice course
Nice course, slow play 2.5 hours to play nine holes
Fun course
We enjoyed the course and thought the layout good. Obviously an older course, but tees and greens in good shape. Not a long course but still challenging. Thorough enjoyed the day.
Good day ofgolf
