South Course at Highlands Ridge

About
There are two championship golf courses available at Highland Ridge, an upscale residential community that is one of central Florida's most popular golfing destinations. Both courses enjoy a beautiful tropical setting situated next to a nature conservancy and a 260-acre freshwater lake. Highlands Ridge's North Course is known for its excellent conditions and the more challenging South Course is one of the heartland's toughest layouts. The South was even voted the area's best golf course in 2012. The layout utilizes the diverse tropical terrain to create a true shot maker's layout featuring holes that range from short to long and wide-open, to narrow. The design seamlessly blends links-style bunkering into the lush landscape of meandering creeks and sparkling ponds, which come into play throughout. There are also 100-year-old oaks that line the fairways.

Very nice, would definitely play again.
Fairways are in excellent condition. Greens are also in excellent condition - very fast.
Very pretty course. A+ rating.
Fun course to play.
Funcourse to play. On the shorter side from the white tees. Some challenging holes with tight fairways and hazard carries.
This course is in fabulous shape.
My wife and I played this course for the first time yesterday and loved it. We're both bogey golfers. The course was a challenge but if we hit good shots each hole was parable. The course is totally green, like Michigan in mid-summer. The greens are in perfect shape and consistent throughout the 18 holes. There are lots of bunkers, strategically placed, and water hazards everywhere. Many holes could be on postcards for Florida's beauty. My advice to the average golfer would be to take extra balls. Once in the water or brush and they're gone. My only suggestion for the course management would be to give course maps to new golfers. Their scorecards have no maps and there's no maps on the tee box signs either. The only way to find many hazards would be to drive from tee to green before you hit and that's not feasible.
Fab greens
Course was in decent shape and the greens were the best we've seen here in the past two weeks. Very nice.
Fabulous layout with several tight fairways
This course is a little shorter than most but the layout, with its water hazards, make up for it. Great condition with fast greens. Bunkers are wel positioned, but fair. We usually play this course in under 4 hours.
Local knowledge needed
Good condition. The course set up is good also. Need to play several times ti learn where to hit tee shots.
