South Course at Highlands Ridge
About
There are two championship golf courses available at Highland Ridge, an upscale residential community that is one of central Florida's most popular golfing destinations. Both courses enjoy a beautiful tropical setting situated next to a nature conservancy and a 260-acre freshwater lake. Highlands Ridge's North Course is known for its excellent conditions and the more challenging South Course is one of the heartland's toughest layouts. The South was even voted the area's best golf course in 2012. The layout utilizes the diverse tropical terrain to create a true shot maker's layout featuring holes that range from short to long and wide-open, to narrow. The design seamlessly blends links-style bunkering into the lush landscape of meandering creeks and sparkling ponds, which come into play throughout. There are also 100-year-old oaks that line the fairways.

Watch for Fire ants
Nicely maintained course except for the fire ants. They were EVERYWHERE, including the bunkers!!
They really need to address this problem. You had to watch every step.
The course was a great tight course
The course was well kept. The greens fast. Great slopes. Had a lot of unexpected water spots .
Remote area, worth the drive
There are 2 courses, but not at the same clubhouse. Both are in remote areas, difficult to find, unless familiar w/the area. However, it is well worth your time to find either. South course greens were bumpy, but I still enjoyed the course. I would recommend either course to the novice/advanced golfer.
Dave from Sebring
Greens were very rough and bumpy, was hard to hold the line with putts!
Not long but tight, use all your clubs
I Love this course, I think it's better than the North. Plenty of water and sand, lots of tree lined fairways. The greens always putt true.
Old style Florida tree lined course w/ a couple of unique holes.
Tight & very challenging. Not as picturesque the Highlands Ridge North course. 1st two hole are a nice warm up & you'd better warm up because the tee shots get very tight after carrying over water. Short in length, only about 6200 yds from tips but it'll eat you up if your drives aren't straight. Also be careful of hidden water areas on a few holes. No maps are available so ride forward to reconnoiter your next shot. Fairways are carpeted & plush. Elevated greens that roll true & are fast. Carts have winshields & rain cover in back. Will definitely play again.
challenging
Lot of water, small fairways. A very challenging course.
Front and back offers two different courses.
Once you maneuver your way through the front nine holes. You will have a chance to take a breath on the back nine. A little more open but just as challenging.
Greens were fast
Greens were fast and fairways smooth. I've played this course many times over the years. There were new water holes I didn't remember due to the unusual amount of rain they've been having. These will dry up after rainy season and it'll be back to its normal fun course again.
I feel this course is the most challenging of all the courses in Sebring and Avon Park.
This course is not forgiving to the average golfer. Water and narrow fairways make for an interesting challenge. This is by far the best course for players who want a real challenge. Love it. I have played this course many times and will continue to for as long as I can play the game. Thank you for getting me a great deal.
Challenging but not overly difficult
Course was in great condition, fairways and greens were excellent. Fairly tight but not overly long, challenging but not so difficult that it took the enjoyment out of playing.
Nice course to play.
For the price I got from GolfNow.Com, the long drive (more than an hour) I had to make is worth it. The course is in good condition and some of the holes are quite challenging. I'll do it again with some golfer friends when I see a good deal.
Tight fairways & fast greens
Be prepared for your ball to roll off the greens. Very busy course; no time to search for lost balls. Although it is a short course, it plays long. We enjoyed the challenges!
