Belle Glade Municipal Golf Club
About
Belle Glade Municipal Golf Club (formerly known as Sugar Cane Golf Club), as its name would imply, sprawls across western Palm Beach County's vast sugar cane fields. Opened in 1987, the golf course features mature landscaping and a classic design that is challenging but playable. Water hazards come into play several times throughout the course and there are also numerous strategically placed traps concentrated along the greensides. One of the best aspects of the golf course that makes it stand out from others in Palm Beach County is the peace and quiet offered by its secluded setting. Golfers are surrounded by wildlife including alligators and bald eagles rather than cars and homes. It is one of the county's best-kept secrets.

Sweet as Sugar!
Great road trip on the MLK Holiday weekend. I'd heard about this course for a few years but could never justify the travel or time. This last weekend was perfect for the excursion. Greens Fees here in Naples were well over $180 PP and fees here were $26 PP.. At that rate we could afford to fill up the tank in our hybrid and go to Belle Glade. What an amazing experience. It is a municipal course but it has SOOOO much character. The staff is exceptionally friendly. (Thanks Jen!) Unforgettable experience.
Greens need attention
Possibly the time of the year but they were horrible... hopefully just a passing condition.
Shaggy
The course could be nice, but the local municipality took it over and they are not taking care of it. It's worth $20, not the $45 I paid.
Thanksgiving Round
Day started off nice and cool, then turned hot with a slight breeze. Upon arrival my group checked in for our 10:20am tee time, no signage or verbal explanation of holiday hours or need to turn in carts early or anything. Round started off nice with very few groups ahead of us, yet after our First tee, saw two groups already stacked up behind us, (need better course management, or have people start on Hole 10). However at 1:53pm an employee pulls up in a golf cart as we just teed off on Hole 17, and tells us we had 4 minutes to turn our golf carts in, because the golf course was closing for the holiday. (This I felt should have been explained during round check-in). My group paid for 18 holes of play and be told we had to leave after early and not be allowed to play the last hole, was fairly rude, when something could have been mentioned upon check-in. Keep in mind there were four other groups on the back 9 holes behind us, and 10 to 1, they had same thoughts as my group. Not likely going to be playing back at Sugarcane Golf Course anytime soon, until the grass on the greens improves (10th green was perfect, all others subpar).
Not Worth the Drive
How this course is not rated much lower is a blemish on the GolfNow reputation.. Sure those who live in the area are happy to have a golf course to play but don't waste your time making a drive.
