Hidden Valley
The course played tough. Rough was LONG. Greens were to slow for my liking. Let slot of putts short. Besides those 2 things...A great deal and beautiful place.
very nice
We went when they were working on the greens and only played back nine but loved it, cant wait to go back and get full course. #15 is awsome! Easy birdie with nice fade shot.
Great day
Even though the greens had just been plugged, the overall course was in great shape.
Awesome course, great views, plenty of space for some errors, and great price on golfnow.com
I have played many Courses all over the state of California, and this is easily one of my favorites. With all the long holes, and the cliff shot on the back which is right after a hole-in-one par 3, this is a great course of many different ranges of challenge.
First time
The course is in average shape, but has some interesting holes. Some of the homes around it are pretty run down. Overall for the "hot rate", it was a deal. It ranks one below Ukiah, which is also more money.
Bang for the buck
Great value and a quality layout! Cant wait to play again!
In great condition!
Hidden Valley is in outstanding condition! 90 degree cart rule and the fairways are in mid season form. While it was very windy, the greens are rolling well and the rough while lush, is mowed and also in mid season form.
I picked up a $17 hot deal and this course is well worth the drive (if you don't live locally) and plays long and fair from the tips at over 6700 yards, one of the longest around. Most par 4's are 400 plus yards, the longest at 461 yards. The par 3's on the front at 189 and 210. The par 5's are a great place to make up ground on your score and are reachable or easily have a short club in your hands for a third. Make it through the front 9 at over 3500 yards and then play the back 3100 plus to make up some ground. A great course with some great scenery and a challenge from the back at 72.5/125.
Good course and plenty of challenges with lots of elevation changes
They had a frost delay the day we played but the course management did a good job getting us out on time and working with the weather. Course had been mowed and all the greens were in good shape.
Very accommidating staff
My friend and I were running late for our Saturday morning tee time so I called the Pro Shop to let them know and see if they could push our time back. I spoke to Rick at the Pro Shop, he was understanding and accommidating. Overall, I thought the course conditions were above average and will be back.
Great course
Aside from one hole where the tee-off is elevated high above - and out-of-sight of - the fairway (you will lose your ball on the drive so just whack it as hard as you can) it's a great course with a lot of variety.
Nice and easy course.
Enjoyed playing. Nice and easy course. First nine flat wide open fairways. Second nine more calling and fun.
This course has beautiful layout.
The golf course has beautiful lay out. The greens are in good condition. Back nine is fun. Green fees is reasonable. The staffs are friendly. Great restaurant. Recommend.
Gorgeous course and great value
This hidden gem is tucked away up by Clear Lake and offers some tremendous views, friendly staff and regular golfers, reliable carts, and inexpensive beer. The only downside to this course is that you need to drive a bit to get there...but the trip isn't so bad if you pair it up with a trip to nearby Napa and Calistoga.
True greens, excellent pace of play
good pace of play to make an enjoyable round. Good challenge
A few really good holes
I would give the course 3.5 stars if I could. It lost the half for the front nine, which are very flat and muni-ish, stuck into a neighborhood of 1970's era retirement/vacation homes--and not particularly attractive ones. Several holes on the back nine, however, make this course worth a visit. Several beautiful holes work their way uphill through a forest (you will feel like you are in the foothills), and end at a hole that is 250 feet above the fairway. I didn't believe the website, as 250 is very high, but this hole really is and it's spectacular. The last couple of holes cut through more old neighborhood. Overall I'm glad I went but don't feel like I need to go back.
The greens were outstanding, very fast and true. I would rate the greens a ten.
The course was in great condition, but several holes work was been done and it was necessary to hit from a much shorter tee box. This was done on the most fun par 5. I hit a 5 wood and a nine iron to be on in two, that's how much they shortened the hole.
Best course
it is one of the best golf course i've played in long time. wide open fairways. green's are fast, good for the game. planning on returning to the course and play round again.
week end get away
Wife and I went to Clear lake for the weekend (from Sacramento) and played here. We had a very fun time with lots of interesting holes. The back nine was very fun. Will return again. Great drinks at Mullignas
Course is challenging
Played on a Sunday. Very busy but kept moving. Marshall's on course. A little bit of everything on this course. Fun to play
