East/North at Spanish Wells Country Club
About
Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club in Bonita Springs offers tennis and bocce courts, a fitness center, and 27 of the most picturesque holes in southwest Florida. The holes are divided into three nines: the North, South, and East; that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The East/North Course combines the longest nine and the shortest nine. Towering pines and palms as well as mature oak trees cover the entire course. Almost just as abundant is the water, which makes an appearance on almost all of the club's holes. The golf course begins with one of the few holes at the club where water doesn't come into play. Although trees line both sides of the fairway on this dogleg right par 4, the landing area off the tee is generous.

Golf course or backyard? Photo submitted by Jimmy3044469 on 06/14/2018
Fun course in good shape
Enjoyed the course. It was in good shape and had many interesting holes. It is a fairly short course but challenging. I thought it was a little over priced but I got a deal through golf now.
Too many houses and too much water
On a positive note the course was well manicured and the greens were very nice. On the negative side the course is lined with 100’s of houses and has an over abundance of water. This is target golf to the highest degree. Granted I didn’t bring my A game when I played (I’m a 10 index), but I lost too many balls to the water and houses on slightly off line drives and approach shots. This is a short course and the water and houses provide the primary defense, but it feels claustrophobic.
Quirky layout to say the least! But enjoyable nonetheless. Grab a Hot Deal for under $100 during peak season and you’ll have some fun.
Nice course
The course was in good shape. We had the pleasure of golfing with two ladies from Canada and the day was pleasurable. It was a good decision to play here.
Very Nice Staff…Very Slow Play
First and foremost, I cannot overstate the friendly and accommodating nature of staff member we interacted with.
There are three 9’s. All are pretty short. (I’m not a big hitter, but I think the tips maxed out at about 63-6400 yards…seemed to play shorter). Greens played much better and quicker than they looked. Best part of the course. We played the North and 10th hole of the South course. Many homes and condos close in on the North course. Had to hit irons off a number of holes on the North course either because the hole was short or dogleg with houses too close and you would have to hit over them. (They even had signs telling you not to.) In any case, after we played the first hole on the South course (our 10th hole) we were on track for a 5-1/2 hour round. I called the pro shop and advised that had to wait on every hole in the front 9 and that there were three groups on #11. I asked if they would consider refund for the back 9. I explained that we were heading back to “tundra country” the following day and couldn’t use a rain check. Phyllis couldn’t have been more pleasant and honored my request.
Looking back, there is a fair amount of trouble given water, and/or OB on many holes. My guess is that there was much time spent looking for golf balls by groups ahead of us.
