Greens were great but....
I haven't played this course since before covid but I don't really remember it being this rough. The fairways are patchy and slightly long. The tee boxes really need to be flattened, it was very difficult to find a lie that the ball wasn't above or below your feet. And the sand traps were basically hard pan. I will say the greens were pretty great and faster than in the past but that was the only plus. I wouldn't pay $50 dollars to play here again. Good thing this was a deal time, or I would be more disappointed.
Good Deal & Track! Bunkers, SAD!
No snack bar, fire!
Bunkers are tough, no sand, Modesto, they don"t buy sand! SAD!!!!
Greens are really coming along, today ran smooth & true!
Good Bang For The Buck!
Greens still healing from Fall airiation! Should be good in a month!
Lovely Municipal course
First time playing Dryden in Modesto. Very nice layout, friendly staff and wonderful regular players. Made many friends and had a grand time!
Need to space out tee times
I've played here once every few months and this time was exceptionally annoying as slow pace of play forced about 4 groups to be bunched up over 2 holes and nobody was willing to acknowledge the need to let others pass. Greens were aerated which didnt make play easy either. Staff was very friendly as usual but course and lack of spacing out groups was just very annoying.
Worth the drive
First time playing the course. Drove an hour to play. Loved the layout and the greens. Great course for the value.
Fun Old Oak Course in Modesto
Dryden is the definition of a straight forward valley course. Lined with old oaks, it can be a fun quite the challenge when struggling off the tee.
Pros:
- Full-size course for a decent price.
- Friendly staff and patrons in my outings
- The elevated first tee makes a fun start
Cons:
- The par 4s get a bit repetitive and lack a bit of creativity
- Conditions can be hit and miss, especially the fairways and traps
- Not uncommon for the homeless to walk across the course
