Great course.
Great experience. Similar to a links course with lots of wind but also many blind shots. It is only a nine hole course.
Experience
Tricky but playable 9 hole links set in stunning landscape and scenery. Remote location but well worth the journey. Very enjoyable, the sunshine was a nice bonus!

Cruit Island review
I'm a US player who typically scores between 85 -95, Cruit is a moderately challenging, 9 hole links course with stunning ocean views of Ireland's ruggedly beautiful wild Atlantic coast. Course was in great shape, got a deal for 25 euros on GoflNow. Weather definitely a factor, check the forecast!! Everyone was accommodating, got us out in no time. Nice bar in clubhouse to have a pint at the end of your round.
I would definitely play this course again.
Great links Course
Course in superb condition for this time of year. Iconic 6th hole hitting over the Atlantic Ocean onto the green on the cliff edge. I even managed to get my first eagle at the par 4 5th. Some challenging holes with blind shots over small hills but unbelievable scenery and well worth the money!

Fast greens
All the dry weather is great for this course. Rough is great in that you don't lose too many balls. The ground is good and hard and very fast! You get rewarded for accuracy here
Hard Work
I have played Cruit Island several times over the years, in fact I played it when there wasn’t even a clubhouse only an honesty box and I’ve always found it a challenge. The greens were in good condition and the fairways were cut nice and tight with very few divots although I think this has more to do with the slopes than golfers replacing them as I’ve always found even a good shot to the middle will inevitably run of the fairway. As for the course layout, if you can’t handle blind shots this course is not for you. As I said earlier I have played here on numerous occasions and I still struggle with picking the correct line, I’m sure the members seldom suffer defeat in team events as this course is the epitome of “home advantage”. However, if you fancy pitting your golf game against a challenging course you must play Cruit Island, at least once!!!
Unbelievable scenery
A hidden gem of Ireland. Most ocean scenic course ever played. Don't be put off by 9 holes only. The second time around is still breathtaking.
Weather difficult to predict
We were able to play 18 holes, that is 9 holes but 18 tee offs. The conditions were challenging but enabled us to experience a true links course. We wish we had brought our cameras because the views from the course were spectacular. Not a course if you want an easy game. The three golfers in our group loved it!!
The best nine hole course in Ireland
Such great course. Brilliant greens. This is such a unique place to play golf. You will not find a better nine hole course in Ireland. This is a must.
Cruit Island
Excellent course - members were more than friendly to myself and two sons. A great course - definitely recommend Cruit Island.
The most fun you can have with your clothes on
Go to an island just a little left after the middle of nowhere; at the far tip of the island, on the most unlevel rocky section, put a golf course; people will come to play. That’s Cruit Island Golf Club (Cruit pronounced “Critch”). Whenever I mentioned my planned route, every golfer who knew of the course, and even some non-golfers, told me I had to check the place out. They were right. I wish I could’ve played there all day. “Easy,” “straight forward,” and “simple” do not describe the course at all. “Wild,” “fun,” and “crazy” fit much better. The blind shots on 5 holes scare you and have you guessing at clubs the first time around and the 6th hole par 3 is all carry from one rocky peninsula over another, to the green surrounded by the Atlantic – I didn’t even mind the 3 putt bogie. It was such fun, I wish I’d stayed all day for the extra €10.
