DO NOT PLAY THE EXECUTIVE 9!!!!
A couple of days ago we played the plantation championship 18 and it was ok so we decided to try the executive 9 for a quick round and this course is a junk course! Don't waste your time for the same price for the hot deal as the 18. We paid $17 each for this junk! The 9 is not marked so you have no idea where you are going and it's mixed in with the 18...brutal layout. Must have been designed by a farmer!! Surprised we didn't see any livestock grazing in the fairways. Play the 18 championship but only for a hot deal.
Good Shape
The weather was great and the course was too. All the greens putted well and fairways were in great shape. Paired with three cheese heads who were a ball to play with so it was a great day all around.
Plantation
Course in great shape fairways very good and greens very fast .we played in the afternoon pace of play very good.
Plantation Championship Course
Very challenging course and greens. Pleasant and friendly staff. Course was very wet when played otherwise a great course
Nice course but bad drainage
A fair course just in a low lying area of west Florida so always wet fairways. There hasn't been much rain lately but the course is in an area where water is all around. With soggy fairways course plays a little longer and solid contact on approach and chip shots is crucial.Greens are mostly in good shape,a few need work, but run good with quick speed. Not a hard course, length isn't a factor but many holes placement is more important.
A bit wet
The weather finally cooperated and warmed up nicely for a 1pm tee time. The course was in good condition although the ground was very wet. Fairways were in good shape as were the greens so no complaints from us. We'll be back in a short time.
I've been playing this course fairly regularly. Overall in decent to good shape. Greens are slow, very slow, and a bit bumpy, but consistent. So you can learn to putt them. Course is short by today's standards, I'm limited to a 6300 yard course, so to me it doesn't matter, the tips are 6500+.. I give the course itself in between three and four stars. A great place to sharpen your game, with differing challenges on every hole. Fairways aren't narrow, but the bermuda rough can make it difficult to find your ball; even though it is not much deeper than the ball itself. The ball settles to the bottom and the bermuda covers it. Once found, not extremely difficult to hit out of it unless you have a bit of ill-luck. Most bunkers are in decent shape. No hard-pan bunkers. Hitting the fairway will definitely help your score, most fairways are tree-lined so if you're left or right, or even on the wrong side of the fairway, you can have tree trouble. Great course for the price. Worth every penny. Staff is always friendly.
First time thoughts
The staff was fantastic, this is an older course but it had a driving range. I found the course to be great ,the trasp were a little wet and needed to be racked ,over all I would like to play this course again .
Course was in great shape. Good time . Greens were fast and green! Lunch special, deluxe.( club wrap)
Great value, great service, fun course to play
If you are looking for a great golf course to play in citrus County you need to give the plantation and shot! You can score low rates on golf now and the course is always in great shape!
Plantation Golf
Very well kept course. Very friendly and excellent staff. Enjoyed the course and look forward to playing it again.
An average course
Having played here once previously and left with an ambivalent experience, I thought I’d give it another try. The second time through, my impression was that it’s a very typical, unexciting course...flat, no great scenery, average groundskeeping, a couple holes that have modestly interesting features. The signage leaves much to be desired since there are intersecting cart paths and a short nine-hole course laid out within part of the main course. There’s nothing “wrong” with the course, but there’s nothing terribly alluring about it either.
Course manager is a COWARD!!! Bring drinks.
I have played this course each of the last 8 years for a long weekend and this was the worst experience I've ever had here. We had a big group and the staff knew when we were coming through and would be needing lunch, yet they did not have enough staff to take care of us.
The cart girl was never around. So bring something to drink or snack on. They also sent her home at 3 when we had 52 guys out playing. Bad management.
Here's the problem I have with the course manager. We finished a hole and he sent somebody out to talk to our group to pick up the pace of play. I would not have a problem with that, but we were waiting to hit at that point because I would have hit the group in front of me if I hit my driver. So if keeping up with the group in front of us is too slow I don't know what he want. 2nd, come out and tell us yourself you coward. Don't send someone else out to tell me something. Tell me yourself. Assess the situation better. Maybe actually see what's going on before you say or do something stupid.
