Berkshire Valley Golf Course
About
Berkshire Valley has a scenic location in the Highlands region of northern New Jersey. It is known as one of best public golf courses in the area. The course is perched atop the ridge of Green Pond Mountain, providing a dramatic topography for a challenging round of golf. The front of the golf course was carefully carved from a hillside, featuring narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. The first five holes are particularly scenic as well as formidable. There are some open holes that play along the cliffs, subjecting them to the prevailing winds, one of these is the intimidating par-5 third. The Berkshire Valley golf course finishes with its signature hole. This hole can be deceiving since it has a generous fairway, but the second shot is uphill to a tough green.

Golfer Reviews
Great course!!
Great course. Had an outstanding time with perfect course conditions. Highly recommend playing here. Also, great staff all around, most notably Ranger Rick! Thanks for a great day!
Great track....the ranger was inept
Always a great course. They had a good stand after nine holes that really held the pace of play us. All the ranger had to do was push people along...he did not. There were 4 groups of 4 people waiting on one par 3. Pretty disappointing for a usually excellent round.
gem
Very overcast, but never rained. Started on ninth because of an outing. Never got held up. A little bit of everything for everyone. Great layout. Wish the price was a little bit cheaper. Could be a private course. beautiful scenery especially the first five holes on the side of a mountain.
my home course and i love it
this has become my home course over the last 2 years and i love playing it. the first 5 holes looking out over the valley is spectacular. remember to hit little baby fades on the first 5 holes and you will be fine. #2 just get up to the front and chip and putt. it plays at 3 1/2 but if you lose it left or right double is real easy. great combination of easy birdie holes and the few real difficult ones to make your score skyrocket if not careful. enjoy the views and appreciate the layout!
the course was a mess
The greens were sanded and the fairways (or mud pits) were aerated.
Which was not mentioned anywhere on line or even when checking in.
Way over priced for the condition of the course.
Pleasantly Surprised!
Having lived in Manhattan for 10 years and in constant search of public golf courses in the area, I was surprised that I had never come across Berkshire Valley when it was suggested to me. We snagged the first time out of the box this weekend and loved the course.
The course was in terrific condition for this early in the season. The greens hadn't been rolled yet, so they were certainly slower than normal, but that didn't take away from the round. The course layout is interesting. Some narrow holes on the mountain side to start the front, and things open up a bit after that as you come back down. The fairways are in great condition. I really enjoyed the variety of holes; I think I hit every club in my bag.
We really enjoyed the round and the course. Will definitely come back.
great views
i really like this place they tend to overbook quite often but they make it work.
Solid track, local knowledge helps with the layout and greens
Was pleasantly surprised, heard nice things about this place and was glad I finally got the chance to play it. Super friendly staff helped up get situated and my friends and I enjoyed our round on a Friday afternoon. Course conditions were great and fairways and greens topped the private clubs I played earlier this year. Holes have many variations as in narrow/moderately wide fairways, force carries, water, and elevation changes. Love how some holes were built along the mountain slope creating picturesque views. With autumn turn, the golf course view was beautiful. Was pleased I actually used all 14 clubs. Definitely worth the drive for a NYC local especially if you could play the other high quality tracks in the area.
