About
Berkshire Valley has a scenic location in the Highlands region of northern New Jersey. It is known as one of best public golf courses in the area. The course is perched atop the ridge of Green Pond Mountain, providing a dramatic topography for a challenging round of golf. The front of the golf course was carefully carved from a hillside, featuring narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. The first five holes are particularly scenic as well as formidable. There are some open holes that play along the cliffs, subjecting them to the prevailing winds, one of these is the intimidating par-5 third. The Berkshire Valley golf course finishes with its signature hole. This hole can be deceiving since it has a generous fairway, but the second shot is uphill to a tough green.

Great course in great condition
Berkshire Valley does not disappoint. Course in great condition. Pace initially slow. I did not see any rangers on the course. Halfway house good for a beer and a burger/hotdog. Staff pleasant but lacking in numbers. Starter was stressed and complaining about lack of support. Driving range poor, mats in very poor condition and bucket of balls very small.
Great course ,need rangers
We had a wonderful time at berkshire valley. Challenging holes were lots of fun.. wish they had rangers going thru every hour or so.. like I've always said, someone needs ro review golf edicate for groups holding up others 10 or 15 minutes. On every hole . Ready golf and tapping in 3 footers would help out everyone. We are not tour players!!!
Course was beat up on multiple holes. The tee boxes were horrendously beat up. Half the range balls were chipped or cracked. Starter was rude and slow. Cart girl only came around once per 9 and wasn't personable at all. Guys in the proshop were chatting and laughing with eachother while I stood for minutes with no line to check in.
Course Management
Conditions/Layout of course: Challenging, Fun, Well kept
Experience: Not fun at all when you’re playing a 5+ hour round when there was absolutely no reason to. Two effing holes cleared up in front. No one doing anything! Called in to the house to have a ranger sent out. Did absolutely nothing. Multiple groups behind us breathing down our necks. All for what? So a 4some of ***** can take up the whole course? Give me a break. Don’t play here in the summer unless you prefer 5+hr rounds.
Overbooked
Played on a Friday afternoon. Apparently there was an outing earlier in the day that ran late. The course booked time slots too close to the projected ending time of the outing, so tee times were pushed back and compressed. Extremely slow pace of play and unhappy golfers. Poor management continues at this beautiful course

whats not not to love???? greats views...great golf holes....yes it can play a little slow....but enjoy the views!
Horrific experience took 3 hours for front 9
Horrific service. Took 3 hours for 9 holes finally called it quits. 4 70 year old women waited till a par 4 cleared off to tee off. Then the manager said “they play here always and are usually fast” meanwhile they don’t have a ranger so I don’t even know how he knows if they are fast pace players or not.
