About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

Out of my top 5 best public courses in NJ.
Played Ridge/Meadow course was in good shape even with drought condition. Fairways were good greens good (greens kind of like a Donald Ross green layout). Ridge/Meadow layout was decent, Fairly easy layout. I had this ranked in top 5 public courses in NJ. But after playing the other courses Neshanic drops out of top 5 maybe even out of top 10, just not as nice as the others or challenging. If you are a 7 hcp or less no reason why you shouldn't shoot par or under. Pace was ok staff not the best but decent. Not as nice as courses below, But still worth a play. See top 5 below for better courses.

Yearly Visit
At least once a season I take the 75 minute ride up to this Somerset County course. Course in great shape, played Ridge/Meadow this time. Great pace of play with good company, will be back.

Tremendous golf course. Love, love love it. Wish it was closer to Bergen county, so we could play it more often. Like it more than many private courses I’ve played. Highly recommend this place

Great shape Play this course the other day it was almost 100° and made it through ,the course is really in great shape and it always is ,the starter ED was awesome can’t say enough good things about this place
Fun links course
The course is very well maintained, the layout offers both elevated course experience and British Open feel. The long grass rough is TOUGH to hit out! Greens are firm and speed is not super fast but definitely need speed management. Chipping conditions around the greens are very good! Fairways and Tee boxes are great! What disappointed me was the empty proshop. I wanted to buy a logo shirt and poker marker, almost no merchandise. Golf carts have no ice cooler, not sure if this is NJ course norm. Overall, it’s a fun course to play!
This course is as pure as it gets, premium conditions.
