Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

great lay out
Weather was great, course layout is amazing but greens were not rolling they were very fuzzy
Spring has Sprung
Finally got a Spring Day and looks like a lot more to come!
Neshanic is a great 27 hole track.
On 4/9, carts were allowed on the fairways, drainage from last weeks rain was very good, fairways were cut, and traps raked. Course looks like the greens were aerated a few weeks ago and while the greens were a little sandy and the grass was short and bristly, for this time of year after the spring we had, I'm not complaining!
Food in the grill was also very good! A fast ready to grab n go burger at the turn was just what the doctor ordered! Birdie, Birdie on 10&11 !
Nice country scenery makes Neshanic tough to beat!
Enjoy
Excellent course to hone your game.
The whole 27 holes will keep you challenged even if u are a single digit handicapper. Requires accurate distance especially on your short irons. If you go for the flag make sure you carry it long to avoid those green side bunkers.
Use range finder with a slope technology. It helps or just make sure you know your club distance, then no problem, now if only I can skip the putting part.
Great Day at Neshanic as always
It was the first 55 Degree day after the big snowstorm a couple weeks ago. Course was in good condition. Hardly anyone on the course. Had a great time.
I call this course home.
I am so fortunate to have such a fine course to call home. It's worth everything to play here. I highly recommend this course to everyone.
One of the best in NJ
A totally enjoyable experience on a great weather day in February. The course layout is challenging and very pleasing to the eye. Great facility. I have played about 40 courses in NJ and would rate Neshanic in the top 5.
Winter Bonus
A nice gift to play here just before Christmas. The greens were a bit furry but otherwise terrific conditions, and at a great GolfNow price. Unfortunately left on a sour note for the second time due to annoying Pro Shop staff seeing the need for a federal interrogation before the search for a lost head over...ridiculous.
Great layout, very playable
First time I got to play hear, always heard rave reviews and they are justified. Played the Lake/Meadow nines, not too challenging but lots of fun holes. Staff was great from the cart guy to the pro shop. It was a slow day they let me go right out ahead of my tee time. Greens were running a little slow but conditions overall were very well. Fairways and tees still recovering from aeration a bit. Really liked the layout, hit the ball good and you can score but there is some trouble spots. I'll be going back for sure!
Great course for the value
Perfect weather and fast pace course. We finished it within 3:30 hours
Neshanic
First time playing Neshanic on my tour around the state and it was long overdue. Staff were great hooked us on a cart, gave us waters, etc. real nice cart guy. Course conditions were prime, and greens were in great shape. If you have a choice i reccomend the lake 9. It offers great looks and tough holes I am a big fan. It was cold so we were some of the only crazies out there and we got to rip through the round which is always a plus for me. I will definitely be back.
Great Course - except for
Course is great. One of the best in NJ. However, the starter is rude and extremely unfriendly.
Fair value for price
We were a foursome playing behind a 2some andtwo threesomes and waited on the tee for 10 minutes on holes 3,4, and 5. That shouldn't happen in November.
Best kept secret
I have nothing but the best word for this wonderful links course. It is just the best kept secret of NJ
Beautiful course
Difficult course, especially on a windy day, and the greens were very difficult--very fast. This is probably the most country club-like public golf course I've ever played.
Country Club Feel
Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens, all in excellent condition. Very open golf course, so even the slightest breeze comes into play. Love the elevated tee boxes. The course is all in front of you, no blind shots. Beautiful clubhouse, excellent practice facilities. Can't wait to play again!!!
Great layout - unfriendly manager
One of my favorite courses but overpriced. Reasonable green fee thru golfnow. Golf course was basically empty but surly manager gave strict orders to staff that "golfnow players were not to be let out even 1 minute before their scheduled tee time". This resulted in the back nine being very slow - waiting almost every shot because a foursome took a 1 hour lunch break & then jumped into the very slow back nine play. If this un-customer friendly manager doesn't want golfnow patrons he should tell that to golfnow. Pace of play should be a key management metric - not punishing golfnow players for getting low priced green fees!
