Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course

About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

Refreshment
It would be good have more water refreshment around the course. There were a couple of ice boxes that were empty. It was hot day.
Beautiful and challenging 27 holes of public golf.
Three great nine hole public courses with beautiful scenery, excellent course layout, and challenging but still fun for average golfers. Courses are in excellent condition. Links style courses. Elevated tee boxes with wide fairways makes tee shots enjoyable. Greens roll true. Bunkers have nice powdery sand. Highly recommend going here if you haven't yet.
Better than some private courses
This course has is better than some private courses. The new carts alone set it apart. The carts have maps of the course with distances. And when you get near the green the map shows the prevailing breaks. The range and training area is better than most private clubs.
Always a pleasure - playing Neshanic
Great course!!
Only issue is that you cannot choose the 2/3 9 holes - they always give you Ridge & Lake..
Wanted to play Meadows & Ridge..
Overall the course is in great shape except a few greens which were really beat-up.
Pleasurable experience
It’s always a pleasure to play this course.
Just driving on Chubb Rd before the golf course entrance and seeing the course on the left almost gives me chills every time.
The course is nearly immaculate in my opinion.
The greens are a little “marked” up from unprepared ball marks, but everything else is really well maintained.
This is one golf course I don’t mind paying a higher price to play.
Definitely play here.
Stormy day at Neshanic
We could play only 7 holes before the storm arrived. Staff was cooperative enough in giving a rain check for 9 holes. We did go back and finished the front 9 after the rain. Was surprised to see the FWs in good conditions and Greens still rolling well enough after such heavy rains.
All in all a good round
First time impressions
First time playing Neshanic. Course conditions were very good. The course layout is fairly straight forward - wide fairways and not much elevation. Pace was ok after the first few holes of waiting 10 min on each tee box.
Nice large greens in very good condition.
Staff very professional and helpful.
Had a great cheesesteak after the round.
I'll keep this one in the rotation - but will only play early am based on pace of play experienced.
Larry B
I played the Meadow and Ridge courses. Beautiful layout in great shape, from tees to traps to greens. Good pace. Always a fun a challenging course to play.
Great links course
Great links course with elevation changes and open fairways. Heavy fescue but manageable. Played in 30 MPH winds and the firmness really showed its teeth. Great track that made you think on each shot. Will 100% be back!
Great course as always
Great conditions as always, fast greens
Just stay out of the high fescue
Nice course but that’s about it
Course and layout are nice. No water jugs on the course and no cart girl. Teed off at 1pm so not like we were out late. 5 hour long round with no ranger. Course great, think they should spread out tee times more.
