Scotland Run Golf Club
About
Scotland Run Golf Club is conveniently located less than a half hour from downtown Philadelphia and only 45 minutes from Atlantic City. It has been voted the top golf course in the Philadelphia Region and it's also ranked in Golf World's Top 50 Public Courses in the country. The layout is routed through and around an old sand quarry, providing a unique mix of wooded, quarry, and links-style holes. The distinctive landscape has unique features including expansive waste areas and imposing cliffs that were deftly incorporated into the design. The golf course is wide open, which means it's at the mercy of the prevailing winds. Scotland Run Golf Club is a tough but fair test where you'll face forced carries, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. On mornings where the fog rolls off of the hills, for a split second you might think you're at St. Andrews.

Love this course!
Considering the beating most South Jersey courses have taken this summer, Scotland Run is in great shape. The greens rolled true and the fairways were in good shape. The many 400 yard par fours always make it a challenge.
Good layout, but less than ideal conditions for money
Played 8/24/13 a Saturday afternoon. Pace of play was ok for the first 4 holes, then it was waiting on every hole. Conditions were less than ideal, with spotty fairways and greens. The tee boxes were a mess, as were many traps. Most of the traps were flooded with water ands were unplayable. It's a challenging course with not much room for error if missed in the wrong spots. The green complexes are decent with lots of undulations, but the greens themselves have seen better days.
Nice Fairways, Greens Were Roughed Up
This course has a lot of character and makes good use of the terrain and natural features. I played the day after a heavy rain and towards the end of the day, therefore, the greens were pretty roughed up. Otherwise, the course was in good shape. The planes taking off and landing at the airport is distracting as are the trucks coming/going from the cement factory. If you can get a deal, play there, but anything over $80 is probably too high for this course.
Very unique course , fun greens , plenty of hazards , challenging.
I usually tee from the whites but since the 3some I paired with went blues I tried to keep it simple....this was ok for the most part but I was perplexed with the carry on a few holes. Greens read and rolled very nice and not overly fast , fairways were in good shape , lots of sand / bunkers / waste areas to navigate. only complaint was that they are having difficulty growing grass in the tee boxes and this was a minor issue which I was assured would be temporary. All day long skydivers dropping from above to a nearby zone added to the experience. Taking target shots at a plane wreckage on the back 9 was ..different. Looking forward to a return visit since I have a better idea of how to manage some holes , and the opportunity to play from the tees which my handicap dictates. Highly recommended !
I like this place
Well maintained except for a few tee boxes, and one or two fairways.
Decent layout but poor conditions and brutally slow
This course has a decent layout but was in poor condition and the pace of play was brutal. The tee boxes were completely shredded. The fairways were patchy. Greens were average at best. Teed off on a Saturday at 240. Played the front 9 in a reasonable 2 hrs 15 mins. Then we hit a brick wall. I don't know if it was people going into the clubhouse at the turn or they were sending people off the back for some reason, but there was a three group wait on the 10th tee. Walked off the course when it swelled to 4 groups on the par 3 13th. Luckily we had a hot deal with a 25% coupon on top so we only paid 45$ each. At 95$, this place is committing highway robbery. Had heard good things about this course so it was a very disappointing trip.
Great design !
This track is well worth a decent drive. Great layout and very nice staff.
Wouldn't pay full price, but fair price on golfnow.
Good challenging course as long as you play the appropriate tees, which are marked according to handicap on the first tee box. This is not a course to bomb it all over the place. There is a premium on hitting your fairway. The tee boxes are in the worst condition I've ever seen at any course, but the fairways and greens are in great condition which more than made up for the tee boxes.
Cold beer and a good burger in the restaurant after the round.
Excellent course
Played this course early morning because of a special price. Regularly $80, and would be worth it even if we paid full price. Course was in great condition and was pretty challenging from the Blue tees. Tons of sand on the back and the front is tight at times. Most of the tee boxes were dead, which doesn't affect play, but was pristine other than that.
Great, Ok, Bad
Great greens, they roll true with decent speed would not have a problem paying $85 for those greens worth every penny. The fairways are just okay, some areas really good some need attention. The tee boxes are in horrible condition, every single one made you feel like asking for your money back. If it weren't for the greens I would have.
Great course
This a beautiful course a lot of hazards but not in difficult places , greens are in great condition. Tee boxes were a little tore up only because of preventive maintance. We will be going back.
Good layout but overpriced
I played this course once last year and then again this year. I had heard from a lot of people out here that Scotland Run is one of the better places to play in South Jersey. While I liked the course, I do believe that it is overpriced for the level of maintenance to the course. Given having the option of Glen Mills in PA for the same price point and RiverWinds for a letter less near by, I would expect a little more. The sand was rock hard and not raked at all. The greens were very bumpy and slow for playing at 8 a.m. Would be a great course if $30 cheaper per round
Enjoyable Round
Great layout, awesome views, beautiful clubhouse. I paid $80, which is way over my per-round budget, but I decided to splurge and really enjoyed my round here.
Fairways are in great shape, greens are fast and true. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that some of the tee boxes are torn up and parts of the course are burning out, but that's not uncommon at this time of the golf season.
A very manageable commute from Philly. Try this course out if you are able to.
N/A
Love the layout, greens a little slow but nice. No one apparently fixes divots on the fairway--
It's a keeper.
Always liked this course, but they charged more than any other public course and it played very slow. Booked a weekday time on Golfnow and the rate and time worked well. If they could keep the speed of play better on weekends I consider coming back.
Good Shape
My first time out this year. The course was in solid shape even with all the rain. It's a challenging course but not overwhelming.
The back nine definitely presents more of a challenge. Definitely a course to keep on the short list.
Each hole is unique
This is a great course. It is on an old quarry or something. every hole presents different visually and provides its own challenge. Playing from the Blue tees here can make a big difference in how it plays, so I suggest whites first. There are a lot of hazards on this course, so assume if you can't see where you landed, it probably is not good.
This place is always in great shape. They had a bad year on a few holes about 2 years back, but all that is behind them.
Finding a deal is tough. At full price, this place is still a reasonable deal. If you need a place to take an out of town client, this may be it.
Awesome course very friendly people
We went on a Sunday at 2:40. They have a card all set for you to let you know where you should be by certain times. This certainly helped because we never waited to tee off and never had anyone waiting behind us (and we are not good golfers and even re-teed on several holes).
Course was in really good shape. It even stormed pretty good the night before. Course was pretty open but was challenging at times. Just overall a beautiful course and place.
I left my pitching wedge on a hole and told the ranger, he was on top of it and searched and found it for me. Was an extremely nice man.
I would go back again and again however, I would probably only go when they have hot deals because I am not a good golfer and the regular price is just too much for someone with my skill level to pay.
Great Track and Condition
Course is in great shape, many memorable holes, greens & fairways were a tad slow
Nice course. Friendly staff
Greens were slow. I have seen and played this course in better shape. The rain has hurt the course. Really soft slow greens lots of free standing water and very buggy.
