Approach to #9 green Photo submitted by ShragMagtite on 01/05/2016
Pace of play is a problem at this course. I had a 2pm tee off but only got to play 14 holes due to darkness.
Too many twosomes and walkers that slowed play down. Elevated green were tough
Good shape. Wide open.
Course well
Maintained. Wide and open with few trouble spots other than handful of sand traps.
Disappointed I couldnt get a beverage at the turn. Bartender completely ignored me - so I continued on to back 9 thirsty. Didnt want to hold ip group behind.
Nice Round and Course
Went in as a single, hooked up with great guys from Halifax , Nova Scotia. Course in decent condition. Most of the greens are elevated and guarded with sand traps (picked the wrong time to wear my golf sandals). Pace was slow, brought my fishing pole but the fish were not biting lol. Staff were great!! Cool plaque with Pros of yesteryear. I'll be back!!
Needs a LOT of work
Greens good. Fairways AWFUL. Thin lies, and terrible chipping conditions on approaches to greens. Nice layout, wonderful history and provenance, but will only be fixed by a year long closure to allow for conditions to improve. The rough is nonexistent……. STOP RUNNING FAIRWAYS TO THE WIDEST POINT…..
And for snowbirders, their seasonal membership is ridiculously expensive. This is NOT a golf club worth the expense.
Sadly disappointing
,I came here cause of ratings. When I arrived tee box at hole 1 had 3 groups waiting. Tee boxes were patchy and almost every green is elevated. The back 9 are better than the front 9 but that’s not saying much. We waited at least 5-10 mins on every tee box. One group decided to pass us up without asking and we ended up waiting on them. For the price you can do a lot better. I don’t like giving so much negative feedback but if you journey to Clearwater area, you deserve to know the truth.
Not bad for the price
Dunedin was recommended to me by a couple of different people. Overall, not a bad place for a fairly cheap round. I picked up a "Hot Deal" and paid about $65, which is a fair price at just about any golf course.
Conditions were not quite what I expected- fairways, rough, and greenside were all a bit spotty. Greens rolled pretty well, but you could tell the grass was not in it's best condition.
My round took about 5 hours on a Sunday afternoon. The course was PACKED, so if you plan to play on a weekend just prepare yourself for possibly a very slow day. I can't say if that's normal, being my first time there, but it was a little rough.
All in all, I might come back if the conditions were a bit better. Tons of history and a great layout at this course. Staff was friendly enough and the guys I got paired with were a great time!
demanding
Played course in the pm when it was windy and cool for the back nine. Course is very interesting and challenging. Elevated greens are a problem for a golfer with my ability. Played the white tees which is a little long for me. Enjoyed the round. Going back next week. I'm here from Canada to get away from the cold and enjoy golf.
Dunedin Golf Club
Great Donald Ross design 1927. Need to manage drainage as course and bunkers had standing water
Much Improved
Played the course this time last year and it was a cow pasture. Now it's back to some of its prior glory. Havig said the however, i think it is overpriced cosidering it was $50 to play up to 3 years ago.
Dunedin golf club
Dunedin golf club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa bay area. The Donald Ross designed course has some great holes. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a course that has character! As a member of a private club, Buckhorn, Springs, in Valrico, I found the Dunedin golf club to be an excellent home away from home! I highly recommend it! Paul
