HOT, HOT, HOT!
The heat is on in Florida...
Greens we're good and rolling true, a couple of rough patches here and there but they've done a great job getting them back in shape. The fairways are as good as I've seen in a long time. A couple of rough tee boxes but they're working on that as we speak. It's a Donald Ross design with elevated greens generously guarded by
sand traps, better be on your short game!
Great shape!
The course was in excellent shape, especially since we are in the heat of the summer!!
A Pleasant Challenge
Staff was pleasant and friendly from the get-go. Fun challenges, classic design, not a ton of use of mid irons but still had plenty of little tests with wedges.
Great Fi d
Awesome layout and a great course to send massive drives very open
Pleasant surprise
I love Donald Ross courses and this old Florida gem in Dunedin did not disappoint. The first four holes get your attention immediately with 3 400+ yard holes plus a longish par 3 in the mix. Challenging from start to finish I would love to have this as my home course. Greens were recently plugged but were a bit slow for my taste. Overall fairways were in very good shape. Some exceptions in spots. But overall a very worthwhile experience. If you have not played this one you will find it one fo the best layouts in Pinellas County outside of Innesbrook.
Donald had my number.
I have lived in Dunedin since 1980. Played 100+ rounds there. It is truly hallowed ground. You’re playing a course that was home to the PGA. Most of the greatest golf legends have played there. Even Babe Ruth! That alone is worth the round. Donald Ross laid it out and he reminded me of that yesterday, as I found home in many of the cleverly placed sand traps. BALLS! He beat me again:-(. Over the years the course has had it’s ups and downs as far as condition. Last year the new pro shop was completed and since then it has only gotten better. The course was in excellent shape despite the recent punching of the greens. In a few more days they will be sweet. Dried quickly after a two hour soaker before we arrived. All in all still one of the finest golf courses in the area. 5 STARS!
Great course
Course was in excellent shape. Has some nice rolls to a few fairways creating some blind shots. Some elevated tees and greens. Greens were smooth and fairly quick.
Original Donald Ross design
Nice course, not too challenging, some good greens protected by large bunkers in front. Some local guy fave some good tips on some if the holes where rhe challenge wasn’t obvious. Course overall needs some TLC,.
Fun Course
This is a fun course to play. Golf carts have gps which is always helpful and a plus. Fairways and greens are in pretty good condition.
Work in progress
Course coming together they have been doing a lot of work to it. Everywhere some of the best fairway grass around, greens are getting back to decently good shape, all-around good course
Very disappointed
I had heard really good things about this course and knew it was a Donald Ross design so my expectations were high. To say the experience fell.short of expectations is the understatement of the year. The fairways were absolutely horrible. Huge patches of dirt everywhere everywhere. The layout itself is very bland. No real character at all. The rough was way down which is good I guess for some people but I was hoping for more of a challenge since there really isn't much challenge in the layout So this was a negative to me. The greens were in decent shape although much slower than it's lower than I expected and that's the only reason for the overall rating of 2. Otherwise it would be a one. It wasn't insanely expensive but even at 40 something dollars it was not worth the money.
