Dunedin Golf Club
About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

a number of elavated greens
slow front nine good pace on the back
Great course! Helpful and friendly staff! Awesome pro!
We just love playing this course when we are visiting from RI once a month! It is our favorite!
Great history at this course, but none was made by us...
Very nice Donald Ross layout. Greens are fast and true. Many sand traps and most greens are elevated. We enjoy playing here.
Good Course
The greens on this course were the best I have played on this winter season. Ran very true and smooth. Course was very wet due to the rain the previous day so some plugging on the back nine fairways.
Course was great condition
Course is well maintained, greens very smooth. Interesting layout, with generous fairways. Some beautiful old trees, Staff is very friendly. Only negative was pace of play was a little slow. My wife and I played as a twosome and at one point the ranger asked if we were willing to join the twosome ahead of us which we readily agreed to. However he left it up to us to join up with them when we met up at the next tee. However, the two "gentlemen" rushed like crazy to tee off before we met up with them on any of the next few tees and it was clear they didn't want to pair up. We didn't try after that, we thought it was very ignorant.
Dunedin GC
elevated greens are very challenging when one is not accustomed to them. Greenside bunkers challenging.
Back nine was very wet after a rain and made for limited roll on many shots.
Great course
This is one of the best and challenging courses I have played here in this area in the last 4 years.
Worth the drive
Challenging golf course. Fast greens. Fun to play challenging but fair. Pleasing to the eye. Great looking trees.one of my favorite courses in that area.
Course has history
Classic Donald Ross design, stay below the pin and watch out for the false fronts. First four holes will really test your abilities and composure. After that, the course gets easier. Great greens!
Great Course,
First time playing here, was teamed up with two other players one who was a member, helped in knowing where the dog legs and water hazards were at. Would play this course again without reservation.
Nice Donald Ross course
Nice Donald Ross course with a great history. Maintained very well, great greens.
Dunedin
A historic challenging Donald Ross course, in good shape and beautiful setting.
Classic Donald Ross Design
This course is a must-play if you are a fan of Donald Ross designs.
The greens were some of the smoothest Bermuda-grass greens I've ever played. They rolled true and were of medium speed. The Bermuda grass fairways were closely mown and offered pool-table top lies.
The rough is thin, but there are plenty of sandy scrub areas, trees, and palmetto bushes to challenge a recovery shot.
I was paired with a couple of members who were friendly and shared their local knowledge.
Excellent value
Course was in excellent condition
Pace a bit slow for no reason (was not very busy)
No cart w beverages -not sure why.
We will def play again.
Classic Donald Ross Course
If you are a fan of Donald Ross-designed golf courses, then you must play this one. Very enjoyable layout. The greens were some of the smoothest Bermuda-grass greens I have ever played. They putted very true. I was paired with two local members who were very friendly and knowledgeable.
This course is not real long by today's standards, but you must hit it straight. The rough is thin, but trees, water hazards, and bunkers await stray shots.
another great donald ross, former PGA home
i always enjoy playing this course. I'm a fan of donald ross designs and this course lives up to that. its one of the only courses in the area with actual elevation changes. most holes are really well protected by bunkers and the fairways can get a little narrow on the shorter holes. great overall value. not the best facilities and in recent past they are making changes to tee boxes which makes for a weird hole or two but that won't last long. if you have the chance to play this course, i would. happy golfing!!!
First experience at Dunedin...
Overall, the experience was just about average. The fellow in the pro shop wasn't very friendly, but the starter; a young fellow named Taylor was polite and very helpful. After this round, we went to West Chase and played 18 holes... Totally different experience. Considering that I brought a client from out of town, in to play Dunedin first; I wish the order has been the exact opposite. Average course, just about average staff, and the price was not commensurate with the overall service level.
top notch
always one of the best in this area...old donald ross is always in nice shape and nicely managed, with quality staff...always a pleasure
You gave it 4 stars, but the tone says it was a 2-3 star experience. I really wish people would start accurately rating these courses rather than handing out 4 stars to every average weed-infested, run-down track out there. So many of these courses in the Tampa Bay area aren't deserving of 4 stars, much less 3 stars.
