Dunedin Golf Club
About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

Donald Ross gem
An old school course which has held its own given the technological advances in golf equipment. Small elevated greens place a premium on distance control. Play here in the 1970's and imagine a high cut 4 wood to # 1. Bring your short game, because you will need it to salvage a good score. Greens were not as fast as look, but speed was good given the light rain and their contour, pin placement. Staff was Professional. Always a good experience!
Include this course among your choices
Nice layout. Good for any skill level. Greens were fine, maybe a tad slow for my preference. Nice variety of shots. Good sand in bunkers, maybe a little too much in some traps. Starter was organized, friendly, and attentive. Not the best course in the area but right up there. Played The Eagles yesterday which is a notch above Dunedin.
Nice challenging but fair test
Greens good. Fairways fair. Bunkers good.
No hidden hazards..everything is in front of you.
No goofy back tees.(played the back tees) at some courses in the area they clearly stuck a back tee just to add yardage to the course but it made no sense)
It`s not Pinehurst #2 but you will enjoy it.
outstanding fast and true ross greens! impeccable!
My wife and I had a very enjoyable round 2nd shot course awesome
An Excellent Value
A very good course with a spectacularly friendly pro shop. And an excellent value. Greens in good shape. Fairways nice. Interesting layout. Will definitely make return trips and recommend the course to others.
Great Historic Golf Course
Wow, what a course! Nice value for a quality course. Played as a single but paired up with another player who also was playing the course for the first time. Fairways were well kept and in great condition. I have played many courses in the Tampa Bay area and can say that this course had some of the best greens i've played on. Rolled true with good speed despite a light rain throughout the day. My biggest advice would be to prepare yourself for Donald Ross greens. Greens were small and misses were ate up by bunkers if the ball didn't roll off the elevated sloping greens. As with Donald Ross designs, the next tee box is close as you exit the green. Perfect for golfers who like to walk courses. Very helpful and friendly staff and member golfers. Overall a great course. Will definitely play again.
Great greens as always
Everything was in terrific shape as always. One or two soggy spots on a fairway or two. Great food in restaurant.
course worthy of playing
Found the course in excellent condition, well managed, pleasure to play
Excellent golf course lets do it again
Best course in the area that I have played. Played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours and saw lots of wildlife.Would play this course again and again.
Nice course
Better than most in Clearwater
Greens are in great shape
We had a great day!
wonderful course
beautiful course, great weather, good fellowship, lousy scores.
Watch the trees
Great course well taken care of but must stay clear of trouble. Play smart!
Elitism and Unprofessional Employee
Nice conditions and beautiful area but dismissive pro shop employee ruined any pleasure realized. Completely inappropriate for critical role being performed. I think he hates hot deals through Golfnow. Course was closing and rude man made ridiculous demands that were impossible to complete just to get a 9 hole rain check. Laughable but the parking lot guy was awesome at his job. Owners should swiftly investigate the damage done to their business.
Wouldn't play for free. It was a pleasant woman that absorbed the boorish behavior.
Dunedin
Very wet grounds from previous rains. Very courtious staff,, inside & out,, well kept scenic course. Most greens are slightly elevated (great). Love the consistant greens.
Great Classic Course
Greens in great shape.
Tough 6500 yard test from the back tees.
Cannot wait to play it again! !!!! T
Good Design for A Medium Handicapper
I read once that proper course design makes par very difficult and bogey relatively easier. This course meets that goal. With wide fairways and mature trees, you can recover from shots that are a little wide of target. There isn't much water although one hole has a huge carry over a swamp on a left dogleg halfway to the green. Sand traps are deep with big walls but manageable sand. Course was very muddy the day I played, but that's not unique for Florida in September. Overall, I enjoyed this course and will return.
Enjoyed Myself
Played a 3 hour round, no crowds. Staff was really pleasant. Greens had been punched recently but was still better than some courses in the area. I will return often as the layout for me is quite entertaining.
NOT PEOPLE FRIENDLY .... RUDEST RANGER IN THE COUNTY!
Played there in an outing.
1. No Names on cart. Told to get a cart and find a partner.
2. Most players never been there. Shotgun start and told to find a hole to start. Then staff upset that we didn't double up on some holes.
3. We started 40 people at 8:30. THEY BOOKED ANOTHER TOURNAMENT AT 12:30 BY 11am ranger was telling our group that we needed to be off by 12 whether we were finished or not. LOTS OF ARGUMENTS..!!!
4. Ranger tells our Seniors to pick up after double bogey.
5. Ranger tells our single hdcp players to lay up on reachable par 5s instead of waiting for greens to clear and going for birdies.
6.Ranger following ladies group constantly. Any delays to look for a ball and he is telling them to pick up.
NOT FREINDLY TO SENIORS, LADIES, or BEGINNERS. ONLY WANT GOOD PLAYERS ON COURSE.
Dunedin
This course was in excellent condition with the greens being spectacular. Great value for the money. Joe and Dave in the Pro shop were very gracious and helpful.
