Great place
I have been playing golf at citrus springs for two years the course is very nice the carts are a little ruff but everything else is Great
If you love elevations, wide fairways and beautiful Live Oaks this course is for you!!
First time playing Citrus Springs and I was pleasantly surprised. I am a very average player, but I love playing challenging and beautiful courses. The course was off the beaten path, but had quite a few surprises, including many beautiful Live Oaks and challenging right and left doglegs. The fairways were forgiving (wide) and in fairly good shape with just a few spots of fungus. The greens had a great surface, and were challenging in there varying sizes, though they tended to not have much break. The elevations in the course made it challenging, as did the layout of differing doglegs with trees making you play draws and fades to score low. The one drawback, as with many Florida courses, was the tee boxes and rough. Neither were the worst I've seen, but they also were not the best. I took my 14 year old with me, and all in all we really enjoyed our time. We saw wildlife, the play was fast, and the staff was very accommodating. I really can recommend this course and tell you it is a great value for the price.
Citrus Springs
The course has great greens that are challanging to putt. The fairways are in poor conditions with lots of leave and debris floating around. it seems to need a good cleanup.
Greens were great
Greens were great and lots of roll. Fairways a little rough. Lots of hardpan but a lot of work being done. Long course and quite challenging.
One of the better courses I have played in Citrus county.
c
fairways were the only let down - greens amazing!
as mentioned in the title, the greens were easily the best part of the course. very smooth and true. they were also fast, i'd estimate 7-8 feet on a stimpmeter.
unfortunately the fairways were a little rough, and by rough i mean a lack of grass. not sure if this had anything to do with the time of year (mid-march), but it was surprising given how lush the greens were.
played from the whites at ~6300 yards, i rated the course moderate difficulty - this is based on uneven lies. the course is extremely hilly, i would not be exaggerating in saying the only level shots i had were on the tee box.
i also appreciated there was adequate variation of hole dog-legging left, right and straight (hate it when courses 'favor' the slice or draw too much). i would certainly play again.
Foggy
We started off in the fog but things improved after several holes. Greens were in very good shape. The fairways leave a bit to be desired. Members of my group said things had improved in the last month.
Nice
Green #1 not fully grown in, the rest were nice with average speed. Fairways in good shape, a lot of doglegs and hills.
Decent value for this course
Course definitely has it's rough patches, but it over all well maintained. Some greens are incredibly quick, others are average but all run true.
Go play this lovely course
We enjoyed our return trip to Citrus Springs, where we received a warm welcome and delicious sandwiches before play. We enjoyed the course, except for the hard sand in the traps. We look forward to returning to this most attractive golfing venue.
Worst carts.
Greens acceptable. Fairways and tee blocks poor, rough worse. Worst golf carts I've ever seen on a course.
review
average at best & would not recommend
the carts were not cleaned & had water in the sand holders
Definitely a grade A course
Course can be as challenging as you want it to be depending on which T box you play from. A very nice well maintained golf course. We will be back.
Good Value
We have played here many times before but have not visited the course for over a year. Considering the course is used day in day out overall it is in good condition. The greens are good as are most of the fairways. The thing that needed most attention were the tee boxes, the grass on most of them needed cutting but overall good value for money.
Decent tee boxes, nice fairways, great greens! The greens are as nice as any in Citrus county.
We played this course several times when we first moved here 11 years ago. In November 2002 we bought a house in a community that has 3 courses and have not played Citrus Springs since then. The Golf Now site has made it so easy to make tee times at local courses that we decided to re-visit courses we played many years ago.
First, the overall condition of this course is so much better than it was in 2002. The tee boxes do need some attention, most of the fairways are in good condition (some areas have weedy type grass-that they have treated-it is dying and hopefully will give the native bermuda & winter rye a chance to fill in), the greens are great. I personally place a higher value on green condition than any other part of a course. Golfers can usually find a good spot to place their tee, and agree to roll the ball in the fairway, but rough greens just ruin a round of golf!
The staff appear to be working to improve the course condition as the best golf season starts. We enjoyed the experience and will return soon to play the improved course.
Didn't expect the hills!
Didn't expect the hills...but like the challenge here in flat Fla. Also liked the lack of water hazards. Conditions of the tees, fairways, greens were all very good. The traps could use some work. Most were hard packed sand.
Nice course - staff does not treat guests with respect
I have played here several times. I do not enjoy checking in because the some of the staff is simply disagreeable.
course is in good shape
I played this course a few yrs ago and it needed some TLC. I guess they hired a greens keeper that knew what he was doing. Played yesterday and the course was in great shape. Will certainly play it again.
great cuorse
we liked the overall layout of the course and we recommend it to everyone
Good value, starter dismissive
David in the pro-shop was friendly, but failed to give me the day pass for the starter. Starter doesn't like golfnow and did not make me feel welcomed. On the first tee as we got ready & he called out "I've two groups behind you." Thank you for making me feel rushed before we even started!
Course was in good shape & challenging. Would have given it more stars if it wasn't for the starter.
