About
Willow Creek Golf & Country Club in Mount Sinai sits on Suffolk's scenic north shore. Opened in 2005, it is one of Long Island's newest golf courses but it has already established a reputation for being one of the area's most visually impressive. What makes the course stand out is the abundance of both sand and water. The number of bunkers on the golf course comes close to the triple digits and water appears on 12 holes. The lightning fast, wildly undulating greens are a challenging complement to the hazards. The layout presents a formidable test for even the best players. One of Hamlet Willow Creek's most difficult holes is the monstrous ninth, which features water on both sides of the seemingly endless fairway. With so much water, golfers almost forget about the three large bunkers that are also treacherously lurking on this hole.

Millennials are slow
When I’m not at Bethpage I like to consider this my home course. No starter on the first hole this morning. Whatever Lol. I don’t run the place. Tossed me a free cart on the 3rd hole when I paid for a walking rate. Can’t complain. Had two guys in front of me who were taking their sweet time as if they owned the course. Slow golfers. Millennials. Hate them. I’m a Millennial but I was taught the game by my dad not through YouTube and bc of Covid. Etiquette with younger golfers is lacking. Didn’t put pressure on them bc I didn’t see a ranger once during the round so clearly nobody cared about pace of play today. Decided after the 9th hole for the rest of the round I was going to let them finish the hole before I even tee off. Ironically, the GM drove by and asked me what I was doing and where the rest of my golf group was. I told her the story and how I was solo and she understood. Very nice lady. The fairway conditions have seen better days but I’ll assume it was from the increase of play this summer with Covid. Still atleast a 4/5 and had a great day.

Resort on LI
Beautiful place that makes you feel tropical. Think Florida. Beautiful homes around the course but only a few are close enough to encroach on play. Homes are raised on hillsides and often have ponds between the course and property lines. While not heavily wooded the layout has plenty of room between the very few adjoining fairways. This gives the course a feel of isolation while you play the holes. Love the place.

5:15 for a round is unacceptable
A round of golf over 5 hours is just unacceptable. If there’s a cart girl there should be a ranger. It baffles me to think people actually take this long to play a round of golf

Golf Greatness

Some fairways aerated so plugs everywhere, greens fast
Usually there’s a warning when they do aeration but none. There are plugs everywhere on the first few fairways but I didn’t notice it after that. The greens look good but are fast even when wet after the rain last night and no sun out. There are a couple puddles on bunkers but none anywhere else.
This course is challenging so you better keep it straight on the fairway otherwise you’ll be on uneven ground or in the water. There are no doglegs and everything is pretty much straight with some elevated greens surrounded by bunkers.
I didn’t hit much GIR but I thought a lot of the pins were in skinny areas of the green so you had to be accurate or put it in a wider part of the green with a guaranteed 2-putt minimum.
For the hot deal that I got, I can’t complain!
